Rhizoctonia solani AG5 and Its Offspring – Morphology and Sensitivity to Fungicides
2022
The objective of these studies was to identify differences and similarities within the progeny of Rhizoctonia solani AG5, which arose from basidiospores produced by the maternal strain ID23. The following characteristics were analyzed: appearance of the mycelium (color, structure, zonation, and presence of sclerotia), growth rate (at 10°C, 20°C, and 30°C), fungicide sensitivity, and hyphal structure. The mycelial color of R. solani AG5 ranged from white/cream to light and dark brown. The structure of the mycelium may be compacted or flattened with visible zoning or fluffy with dark brown sclerotia on the colony surface. Homokaryons and heterokaryons derived from homokaryons were analyzed by…

Biological invasions are recognized as a significant evolutionary factor over short time scales. In particular, their effect is well recorded on the genetic structure of populations, the patterns of phenotypic evolution and the richness of parasite fauna associated to invasive populations. This study aims at quantifying the consequences of a biological invasion according to these three levels (genetical, phenotypical and parasitological) taking as example the Mozambique tilapia Oreochromis mossambicus. This African cichlid is characterized by an unusual conservation status since it is both (i) ranked among the world's worst invasive species due to its global dispersion during the 20th centu…
Korporatīvo obligāciju emisijas procesa analīze un tā pilnveidošana Latvijā
2020
Katras valsts tautsaimniecība var attīstīties tad, ja palielinās tā valsts kapitālsabiedrību vai privāto uzņēmumu ražošanas un pakalpojumu sniegšanas spēja. Līdz ar to, viens no valsts ekonomikas izaugsmes izšķirošajiem faktoriem ir attīstītais kapitāla tirgus, kur uzņēmumi var ātri un ērti piesaistīt nepieciešamo parāda kapitālu savai attīstībai. Tomēr, Latvijā obligāciju tirgus attīstība būtiski tiek aizkavētā, neskatoties uz tirgus attīstības potenciālu. Laika periodā no 2014. līdz 2018. gadam Latvijas korporatīvo obligāciju tirgus kapitalizācija pret valsts IKP saglabājās zemā līmenī. Turklāt, tirgū joprojām ir liels trūkums pēc jauniem obligāciju emitentiem, it sevišķi pēc uzņēmumiem n…
Calcium mediated polyelectrolyte adsorption on like-charged surfaces.
2011
International audience; Monte Carlo simulations within the primitive model of calcium-mediated adsorption of linear and comb polyelectrolytes onto like-charged surfaces are described, focusing on the effect of calcium and polyion concentrations as well as on the ion pairing between polymers and calcium ions. We use a combination of Monte Carlo simulations and experimental data from titration and calcium binding to quantify the ion pairing. The polymer adsorption is shown to occur as a result of surface overcharging by Ca2+ and ion pairing between charged monomers and Ca2+. In agreement with experimental observations, the simulations predict that the polymer adsorption isotherm goes through …
