Arctic mosasaurs (Squamata, Mosasauridae) from the Upper Cretaceous of Russia
2020
Abstract From the northern part of Chukotka Region (Russian Far East) and Nether-Polar Urals, one of the oldest and one of the most northerly occurrences of mosasaur remains in the world are recorded. The appearance of mosasaurs at high latitudes could be explained by the expansion of their habitat and an unusual balance of insolation. Polar day conditions could have been useful for marine predators such as mosasaurs because they could have hunted for prey at any time. During the Cretaceous, almost two months of complete darkness can be reconstructed for the territory of present-day Chukotka, and more than one month of twilight. It is highly unlikely that these large-sized animals with a hi…

Advances in the Role of Pharyngeal Surgery in the Treatment of OSAS
2021
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery recommend surgery as an option for the treatment of OSAS, when noninvasive treatments such as CPAP or oral appliances have not been successful or are not tolerated. A gradual and logical approach must be taken into account when a patient seeks a surgical solution, and it is a fundamental requirement that the patient find a surgeon who understands both the pathophysiology of sleep apnea and anatomy of the upper airways (UA) to guarantee the best chances of success. The surgical options aim to solve the obstructive problem according to two ways, the first is the reduction of the content, an…

Flowers, Water accumulation and Corporate Social Responsibility: Certification of the Production of Roses and Claims for Environmental Justice in Ecu…
2018

PLA2-mediated catalytic activation of its inhibitor 25-acetyl-petrosaspongiolide M: serendipitous identification of a new PLA2 suicide inhibitor.
2004
Abstract25-Acetyl-petrosaspongiolide M (PMAc) (1), a mild non-covalent PLA2 inhibitor, unexpectedly recovers, after incubation with bvPLA2, the ability to covalently modify the enzyme target. This study demonstrates the catalytic effect of bvPLA2 in converting 1 in its deacetylated congener petrosaspongiolide M (PM) (2), a strong covalent PLA2 inhibitor whose molecular mechanism of inhibition has already been clarified. Moreover, our findings outline the potential role of PMAc as anti-inflammatory pro-drug, by virtue of its ability of delivering the active PM agent at the site of inflammation, functioning as a suicide inhibitor.
