Pētījumā tiek analizēts metaforu lietojums, galveno uzmanību pievēršot to funkciju izpētei. Metaforu funkcijas ietekmē vairāki faktori, piemēram, autora nodomi un mērķauditorija, kas nozīmē, ka tās ir cieši saistītas ar diskursu un kontekstu. Tādējādi, šajā darbā tika pētīts metaforu lietojums 2020. gada ārzemju mediju publikācijās par Latvijas jaunuzņēmumu ekosistēmu, izmantojot Džonatana Čarterisa-Bleka (2004) definēto kritiskā diskursa analīzes metodi. Effect of temperature on anaerobic treatment of black water in UASB-septic tank systems

The effect of northern European seasonal temperature changes and low temperature on the performance of upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB)-septic tanks treating black water was studied. Three UASB-septic tanks were monitored with different operational parameters and at different temperatures. The results indicated the feasibility of the UASB-septic tank for (pre)treatment of black water at low temperatures with respect to removal of suspended solids and dissolved organic material. Inoculum sludge had little effect on COD(ss) removal, though in the start-up phase some poorly adapted inoculum disintegrated and washed out, thus requiring consideration when designing the process. The article contains an analysis of results of the available research on the phenomenon of children’s violence toward their parents. The main purpose of this interpretation is to search for the theoretical structure of a prepared research tool, initially called the Teen Violence Scale Toward Parents (TVSTP). The subject of the analyzes were works and research reports as well as police statistics containing information on the phenomenon of domestic violence, including teenage violence toward parents. Bisphosphonates offer a significant improvement in the quality of life for cancer patients; these potent inhibitors of bone resorption have been shown to markedly reduce the morbidity frequently resulting from bone metastases. Despite the success of bisphosphonates as therapeutic agents, however, toxicity in the form of osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) is a rare complication whose incidence rate has climbed in recent years.
