Absence of muscarinic modulation of vasopressin release from the isolated rat neurohypophysis

1. Isolated rat neurohypophyses were incubated in Locke solution at 37°C and the vasopressin output into the medium determined by bioassay. 2. Potassium chloride 60 mM caused a 9-fold increase in the rate of vasopressin release that was abolished when calcium chloride was omitted from the Locke solution. 3. Acetylcholine 5.5×10−4 M neither alone nor in the presence of atropine 2.9×10−6 M changed the “resting” release of vasopressin. 4. El software desarrollado está organizado como una librería de Matlab que permite crear automáticamente bases de preguntas para la creación de cuestionarios compatibles con el formato de Aula Virtual. Para crear bases de datos de preguntas, sólo hay que programar una función base que resuelva la pregunta tipo test que se desea crear en la base de datos. Utilizando esta función y la librería generada se puede obtener una base de N preguntas de este tipo. The breeding ecology of Rufous Bush Robin Cercotrichas galactotes was studied over 4 years in southeast Spain. The vegetation of the study area was made up mainly of Olives, Almonds and small shrubs. The density of this species decreased from 0.36 pairs 10 ha-1 in 1980 to 0.7 pairs 10 ha-1 in 1984, a decrease similar to one observed in other parts of Spain. The breeding season lasted from late May or early June to late August. About two-thirds of the pairs laid 2 clutches. Mean clutch size was 3.6 eggs. The incubation period lasted about 13 days and nestlings left the nest after 10 days. Mortality was greater in first clutches, mainly because of predation, which did not occur in second clut…
Chiral Polyisocyanates from an Azomonomer with a Very High Chiral Induction

The synthesis of new chiral polyisocyanates is described. For this purpose a new chiral azobenzene containing monomer with the chiral center in α-position to the isocyanate group was synthesized. The anionic copolymerization was carried out in THF as solvent with potassium cyanide that was complexed by 18-crown-6 as initiator. This allowed a better control of the reaction and thereby the synthesis of polyisocyanates with a fairly low polydispersity. The copolymers show an extremely high transfer of chirality from the chiral side groups to the helical backbone in dilute solution.
