Exclusively juvenile centrioles inXenopus laevis oocytes injected with preparations of mature centrioles

1999

Activated oocytes of Xenopus laevis were injected with centriole preparations isolated either from spermatozoa of loach fish Misgurnus fossilis or from rat liver. These injections induced the development of cytasters in the ooplasm and egg cleavage. Electron microscopic study of cytasters was made at the stage that corresponded to interphase between first and second cleavage divisions. This study revealed in cytasters singleton centrioles surrounded by pericentriolar material and numerous microtubules. Surprisingly, the ultrastructure of centrioles in cytasters corresponded to that of juvenile, newly formed vertebrate centrioles, whereas the injected preparations contained only adult mature…

Differential staining of mucin granules from epoxy resin sections by a phosphotungstic acid-methyl green procedure.

1991

After treatment of epoxy resin semithin sections from glutaraldehyde fixed rat large intestine with 5% aqueous phosphotungstic acid (PTA), staining with unpurified 0.2% solutions of methyl green at 60 C for 5 min produces a color differentiation between mucin granules of goblet cells. Some mucin granules and the glycocalyx appear deep green while the remaining granules, luminal mucin and collagen fibers are pink. The known contamination of unpurified methyl green with crystal violet seems to be responsible for the pink staining reaction of the latter structures, which also present an orange-red fluorescence under green exciting light. Electron microscopic observations show selective contras…

Dissection of keratin dynamics: different contributions of the actin and microtubule systems.

2005

It has only recently been recognized that intermediate filaments (IFs) and their assembly intermediates are highly motile cytoskeletal components with cell-type- and isotype-specific characteristics. To elucidate the cell-type-independent contribution of actin filaments and microtubules to these motile properties, fluorescent epithelial IF keratin polypeptides were introduced into non-epithelial, adrenal cortex-derived SW13 cells. Time-lapse fluorescence microscopy of stably transfected SW13 cell lines synthesizing fluorescent human keratin 8 and 18 chimeras HK8-CFP and HK18-YFP revealed extended filament networks that are entirely composed of transgene products and exhibit the same dynamic…

Heterogenizing palladium tetraiodide catalyst for carbonylation reactions

2022

We report the first example of successful heterogenization of the classical PdI42- carbonylation catalyst, achieved in two simple steps from ionic liquid-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The newly developed materials (PdI4@MWCNT-imi-X, X = Br, I) present the PdI42- anion supported on an imidazolium network (imi) grown on MWCNTs and have been fully characterized. The activity of PdI4@MWCNT-imi-X has been successfully tested in a paradigmatic carbonylation reaction, the oxidative monoaminocarbonylation of 1-alkynes with amines to give high value added 2-ynamides (obtained in good yields, 50–84%, starting from various substrates). The heterogeneous catalyst could be easil…

Theoretical simulations of regular and defective aluminium nitride nanotubes

2007

For theoretical simulation on AlN nanotubes (NTs) of different chiralities (armchair-and zigzag-type) and uniform diameters, we have considered their single-walled (SW) 1D periodic models. For this aim, we have performed ab initio DFT calculations on AlN SW NTs using formalism of the localized Gaussian-type atomic functions as implemented in CRYSTAL-03 computer code. We have shown that the smaller the diameter of AlN single-walled nanotube is, the closer its electronic and structural properties to AlN bulk. We have analysed an influence of N vacancies (neutral F centres) created by either soft irradiation of nanotubes or under experimental conditions of their growth, on the atomic and elect…

History in corporate social responsibility : Reviewing and setting an agenda

2018

The integration of historical reasoning and corporate social responsibility (CSR) theorising has recently received remarkable cross-disciplinary attention by business historians and CSR scholars. But has there been a meaningful interdisciplinary conversation? Motivated by this question that presumes significant limitations in the current integration, I survey existing research for the purpose of sketching and shaping historical CSR studies, ie an umbrella that brings together diverse approaches to history and CSR theorising. Drawing from the recent efforts to establish historical methodologies in organisation studies, I first reconcile discrepant disciplinary and field-level traditions to c…

Amide functionalized aminobisphenolato MoO2 and WO2 complexes: Synthesis, characterization, and alkene epoxidation catalysis

2023

The use of dioxidomolybdenum(vi) and -tungsten(vi) complexes supported by a variety of structurally different tri- and tetradentate aminobisphenolato ligands as pre-catalysts in the epoxidation of alkenes is well established. However, under the widely used standard 1 mol-% catalyst loadings these types of complexes generally show modest activity only. Recently, amide functionalities in the ligand design of various aminomonophenolato MoO2 complexes have been shown to lead to heightened catalytic activity in alkene epoxidation. In this paper we show that similar ligand amide functionalization can lead to significant enhancement in the alkene epoxidation activity of aminobisphenolato MoO2 comp…

Time cycles of homicide in the early modern Nordic area

2020

An extensive body of criminological research has shown that criminaland violent behaviour manifests time patterns in terms of daily, weekly and annual cycles. This is consistent with criminologicalroutine activities theory. Can we generalize these patterns to historicalperiods? In this article, we draw on a recently created uniquedataset, covering the years 1608–1699 in three Nordic regions, toexplore time cycles of offending in the early modern period.Examining daily, weekly and annual cycles, we find that lethalviolence manifested strong time patterns in the early modernperiod. The role of public holidays was central especially in theperiod lasting from Christmas to Midsummer. Probing the …

Supero-lateral Hoffa's fat pad edema: associazione con malallineamento o conflitto femoro-rotuleo.

2012

OBIETTIVO.
