Measurements of tunneling conduction to carbon nanotubes and its sensitivity to oxygen gas

We have measured the conductive properties of junctions between carbon nanotubes (CNT) and non-noble metals $M$ ($M$ = Al, Ti, Nb), which are separated by the native oxide (${M}_{\mathit{OX}}$) of the metal. Reproducible and asymmetric current-voltage characteristics were obtained from Ti/Ti${}_{\mathit{OX}}$/CNT and Nb/Nb${}_{\mathit{OX}}$/CNT junctions, while Al/Al${}_{\mathit{OX}}$/CNT exhibited no current until breakdown, which is attributed to the larger bandgap of Al${}_{\mathit{OX}}$. The conduction in the Ti- and Nb-based junctions is not due to direct tunneling since they exhibit strong temperature dependence. Hydrogen-terminated diamond is known for its unusually high surface conductivity that is ascribed to its negative electron affinity. In the presence of acceptor molecules, electrons are expected to transfer from the surface to the acceptor, resulting in p-type surface conductivity. Here, we present Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) measurements on carbon nanotubes and C60 adsorbed onto a hydrogen-terminated diamond(001) surface. A clear reduction in the Kelvin signal is observed at the position of the carbon nanotubes and C60 molecules as compared with the bare, air-exposed surface. Dominant keratin mutations cause epidermolysis bullosa simplex by transforming keratin (K) filaments into aggregates. As a first step toward understanding the properties of mutant keratins in vivo, we stably transfected epithelial cells with an enhanced yellow fluorescent protein-tagged K14R125C mutant. K14R125C became localized as aggregates in the cell periphery and incorporated into perinuclear keratin filaments. Unexpectedly, keratin aggregates were in dynamic equilibrium with soluble subunits at a half-life time of <15 min, whereas filaments were extremely static. Meiotic spindles in males of higher Lepidotera are unusual in that the bulk of the spindle micro-tubules (MTs) ends about halfway between the equatorial plate and the centrosomes in metaphase. It appears worthwhile to determine how the MTs are nucleated, while their pole proximal ends are distant from the centrosomes. To this end, spermatocytes of Phragmatobia fuliginosa (Arctiidae), collected in the field, were double-labeled with antibodies to beta- and gamma-tubulin. Bakalaura darba tēma ir komercdarbību veidi un to analīze. Mūsdienās Latvijas iedzīvotāji ir ieinteresēti dibināt savus uzņēmumus, lai nopelnītu. Kā rezultātā nonāk pie komercdarbību izvēles. Bakalaura darba mērķis izpētīt pieejamos statistiskos datus par reģistrēto uzņēmumu skaitu katrā no komercdarbībām, kā arī veikt priekšlikumus, kurš no komercdarbības veidiem Latvijā ir vispiemērotākais un kurā nozarē ir visizdevīgāk dibināt uzņēmumu. Darba rezultātā tika apskatīti komercdarbības veidi, kā IK, PS, KS, SIA, tai skaitā mazkapitāla SIA un AS. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan heteroseksuaalisuuden esittämistä Ralf Königin sarjakuvissa. Heteroseksuaalisuus on kulttuurissamme hiljainen ilmiö, jota pidetään itsestäänselvyytenä ja jolle ei kaivata selityksiä. Tämä tutkimus pyrkii rikkomaan hiljaisuuden ja asettamaan heteroseksuaalisuuden tarkastelun alle. Tutkimusaineiston muodostaa 19 saksalaisen Ralf Königin sarjakuva-albumia, joiden homonäkökulma tarjoaa tavanomaisesta poikkeavia käsityksiä heteroseksuaalisuudesta. Abstract Four new Keggin type polyoxometalate clusters [HL]3[PW12O40]·5MeOH (1) and [Ln(DMF)8][PW12O40] {Ln = La (2), Dy (3), Yb (4)} (L = N-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-methoxy-salicylideneamine) have been synthesized. Co-crystallization of complex 1 with each of the three complexes 2–4 takes place when the Schiff base ligand is treated with hydrated phosphotungstic acid, H3[PW12O40]·xH2O, hydrated lanthanide nitrate, Ln(NO3)3·6H2O in the presence of Ni(NO3)2·6H2O. The Schiff base ligand is protonated in complex 1 and thus it is neutralizing the charge of the polyoxotungstate anion, [PW12O40]3−.
