Die Qual der Wahl: Die Bedeutung des Regret bei Kaufentscheidungen

2003

Regret results from comparing the outcome of a chosen alternative to the outcome of a foregone alternative. Research shows that this emotion is highly relevant for consumer behavior and decision making, but in consumer research, only a few studies deal with regret. Most of these studies do not measure regret explicitly. And none of these studies include the antecedents of regret. They only examine the consequences of regret on consumer behavior, such as satisfaction. In contrast, the antecedents of regret, but not the consequences, has been a topic of interest in social psychology. Our research indicates that it is fruitful to analyze the antecedents of regret and its consequences together.…

Evaluating the effectiveness of the systemic practice model of children’s social care – A pilot study on child- and family-level outcomes

2023

The Systemic Practice Model (SPM) is a Finnish adaptation of the Reclaiming Social Work (RSW) model, which incorporates systemic ideas and practice into children’s social care. This study is the first attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of the RSW model outside England. The study employed a quasi-experimental repeated measures design. Questionnaires assessing child- and family-level outcomes and the quantity (i.e., number of meetings) and quality (i.e., service user feedback) of the practice were administered to social workers, children and parents twice over a six-month follow-up period. Outcome data comprise 112 cases (SPM cases n = 56, service-as-usual cases n = 56) from 18 child prote…

User Psychology: Re-assessing the Boundaries of a Discipline

2010

Currently, efforts of psychologists to improve interactive technology have fragmented and the systemization of scientific knowledge stalled. There is no home for integrative psychological research on computer use. In this programmatic paper, we reassess three meta-scientific issues defining this discipline. As the first step, we pro- pose to extend the subject of study from the analysis of human mind in the interaction to the broader view of human as an intentional user of interactive technology. Hence, the discipline is most aptly called user psychology. Secondly, problem-solving epistemology is advocated as an alternative to the notion from natural sciences that progress in science involv…

Sunitinib in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma after progression under sorafenib treatment.

2010

Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of sunitinib in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after progression under sorafenib treatment. Methods: Sunitinib was administered at 37.5 mg daily (4-weeks-on/2-weeks-off schedule) after progression under sorafenib treatment. Adverse events (AEs) were assessed using NCI-CTCAE v3.0, and tumor response was evaluated according to RECIST. Data were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Eleven patients with metastatic disease were treated. Seven patients (64%) presented with no liver cirrhosis, including 3 patients with a history of liver transplantation. The first radiologic…

Curative therapies are superior to standard of care (transarterial chemoembolization) for intermediate stage hepatocellular carcinoma.

2017

Background and aims the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer intermediate stage (BCLC-B) of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) includes extremely heterogeneous patients in terms of tumor burden and liver function. Transarterial-chemoembolization (TACE) is the first-line treatment for these patients although it may be risky/useless for someone, while others could undergo curative treatments. This study assesses the treatment type performed in a large cohort of BCLC-B patients and its outcome. Methods retrospective analysis of 485 consecutive BCLC-B patients from the ITA.LI.CA database diagnosed with naive HCC after 1999. Patients were stratified by treatment. Results 29 patients (6%) were lost to follo…

Sorafenib (SFB) treated elderly patients (E) with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC): Chromogranine A (CGA) plus vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF…

2012

e14676 Background: HCC accounts for approximately 90% of all primary liver cancers, and is the fifth most common cancer in the world and prognosis is so far very poor, particularly in E patients.Between all tentative of treatment till know SFB seems to be the most promising drug in patients with advanced or metastatic HCC.Aim of the study is to investigate if SFB is efficient and safe also in E HCC patients despite the comorbidities and other problems. Objectives: To investigate if CgA and VEGF work as predicting factors of Sorafenib treatment outcomes. Methods: 51 patients, mean age 68,9 (65-85) with HCC were enrolled . Serum CgA, VEGF and αFP were evaluated at baseline and after end of tr…

Outcomes of hepatocellular carcinoma patients treated with sorafenib: a meta-analysis of Phase III trials

2019

Aim: To benchmark overall survival (OS) and time to radiological progression (TTP) of patients enrolled in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing sorafenib in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma using individual participant survival data, and to meta-analyze prognostic factors for OS and TTP. Methods: RCTs were identified through literature search until December 2018. Individual participant survival was reconstructed with an algorithm from published Kaplan–Meier curves. Results: Ten RCTs were included. Median OS was 10.0 months (95% CI: 9.6–10.5), and median TTP was 4.1 months (95% CI: 3.8–4.3). Multivariable analyses showed HCV positivity, absence of macrovascular invasion and extra-…

Visceral fat area as a new independent predictive factor of survival in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma treated with antiangiogenic age…

2011

Abstract Purpose. A better identification of patients who are more likely to benefit from vascular endothelial growth factor–targeted therapy is warranted in metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC). As adipose tissue releases angiogenic factors, we determined whether parameters such as visceral fat area (VFA) were associated with outcome in these patients. Experimental Design. In 113 patients with mRCC who received antiangiogenic agents (bevacizumab, sunitinib, or sorafenib) (n = 64) or cytokines (n = 49) as first-line treatment, we used computed tomography to measure VFA and subcutaneous fat area (SFA). We evaluated associations linking body mass index (BMI), SFA, and VFA to time to progres…

Ramucirumab in elderly patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and elevated alpha-fetoprotein after sorafenib in REACH and REACH-2.

2020

Background & Aims: Limited data on treatment of elderly patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) increase the unmet need. REACH and REACH-2 were global phase III studies of ramucirumab in patients with HCC after prior sorafenib, where patients with alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) ≥400 ng/mL showed an overall ssurvival (OS) benefit for ramucirumab. These post-hoc analyses examined efficacy and safety of ramucirumab in patients with HCC and baseline AFP ≥ 400 ng/mL by three prespecified age subgroups (<65, ≥65 to <75 and ≥75 years). Methods: Individual patient data were pooled from REACH (baseline AFP ≥400 ng/mL) and REACH-2. Kaplan-Meier and Cox proportional hazards regression methods …
