Abstract In this paper, we recall definition of identifiability of nonlinear systems. We prove equivalence between identifiability and smooth identifiability. This new result justifies our definition of identifiability. In a previous paper (Busvelle and Gauthier, 2003), we have established that • If the number of observations is three or more, then, systems are generically identifiable. • If the number of observations is 1 or 2, then the situation is reversed. A general technique to build a dynamic and distributed intrusion detector for a class of multi–agent systems is proposed in this paper, by which misbehavior in the motion of one or more agents can be discovered. Abstract This paper deals with robust estimation of speed and rotor flux for sensorless control of motion control systems which use induction motors as actuators. Due to the observability lack of five and six order Extended Kalman Filters, speed is here estimated by means of a Total Least Square algorithm with Neural Adaptive mechanism. This allows the use of a fourth-order Kalman Filter for estimating rotor flux and to filter stator currents. Extended complex Kalman filter for sensorless control of an induction motor

Abstract This paper deals with the design of an extended complex Kalman filter (ECKF) for estimating the state of an induction motor (IM) model, and for sensorless control of systems employing this type of motor as an actuator. A complex-valued model is adopted that simultaneously allows a simpler observability analysis of the system and a more effective state estimation. The observability analysis of this model is first performed by assuming that a third order ECKF has to be designed, by neglecting the mechanical equation of the IM model, which is a valid hypothesis when the motor is operated at constant rotor speed. Risken–Nummedal–Graham–Haken instability in class-B lasers

We determine analytical expressions for the Risken-Nummedal-Graham-Haken multimode laser instability outside the uniform field limit in the case of very fast polarization decay (class-B laser). A new condition for the observability of that instability, concerning the value of the cavity mirrors reflectivity, is predicted.
On the observability of Bell's inequality violation in the two-atoms optical Stern-Gerlach model

Using the optical Stern-Gerlach model, we have recently shown that the non-local correlations between the internal variables of two atoms that successively interact with the field of an ideal cavity in proximity of a nodal region are affected by the atomic translational dynamics. As a consequence, there can be some difficulties in observing violation of the Bell's inequality for the atomic internal variables. These difficulties persist even if the atoms travel an antinodal region, except when the spatial wave packets are exactly centered in an antinodal point.
On the observability of Majoron emitting double beta decays

Because of the fine--tuning problem in classical Majoron models in recent years several new models were invented. It is pointed out that double beta decays with Majoron emission depend on new matrix elements, which have not been considered in the literature. A calculation of these matrix elements and phase space integrals is presented. We find that for new Majoron models extremely small decay rates are expected.
Time delay in binary systems

The aim of this paper is to study the time delay on electromagnetic signals propagating across a binary stellar system. We focus on the antisymmetric gravitomagnetic contribution due to the angular momentum of one of the stars of the pair. Considering a pulsar as the source of the signals, the effect would be manifest both in the arrival times of the pulses and in the frequency shift of their Fourier spectra. We derive the appropriate formulas and we discuss the influence of different configurations on the observability of gravitomagnetic effects. Nonlocal field correlations and dynamical Casimir-Polder forces between one excited- and two ground-state atoms

The problem of nonlocality in the dynamical three-body Casimir-Polder interaction between an initially excited and two ground-state atoms is considered. It is shown that the nonlocal spatial correlations of the field emitted by the excited atom during the initial part of its spontaneous decay may become manifest in the three-body interaction. The observability of this new phenomenon is discussed.
