The new complexes of formula AsPh4[Cr(phen)(ox)2]·H2O (1), [NaCr(phen)(ox)2(H2O)]·2H2O (2) and {[Cr(phen)(ox)2]2[Mn2(bpy)2(H2O)2(ox)]}·6H2O (3) (AsPh4=tetraphenylarsonium cation; phen=1,10-phenanthroline; ox=oxalate dianion; bpy=2,2′-bipyridine) have been prepared and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of 1 consists of discrete [Cr(phen)(ox)2]− anions, tetraphenylarsonium cations and uncoordinated water molecules. The chromium environment in 1 is distorted octahedral with Cr–O bond distances between 1.959(3) and 1.947(3) A and Cr–N bonds of 2.083(4) and 2.072(4) A. The metathetical reaction of [Li(TMEDA)][HC(PPh(2)Se)(2)] ([Li(TMEDA)]1) with TlOEt in a 1:1 molar ratio afforded a homoleptic Tl(I) complex as an adduct with LiOEt, Tl[HC(PPh(2)Se)(2)]·LiOEt (7), which undergoes selenium-proton exchange upon mild heating (60 °C) to give the mixed-valent Tl(I)/Tl(III) complex {[Tl][Tl{(Se)C(PPh(2)Se)(2)}(2)]}(∞) (8). Treatment of TlOEt with [Li(TMEDA)](2)[(SPh(2)P)(2)CE'E'C(PPh(2)S)(2)] (3b, E' = S; 3c, E' = Se) in a 2:1 molar ratio produced the binuclear Tl(i)/Tl(i) complexes Tl(2)[(SPh(2)P)(2)CE'E'C(PPh(2)S)(2)] (9b, E' = S; 9c, E' = Se), respectively. Field-Induced Slow Magnetic Relaxation in a Mononuclear Manganese(III)-Porphyrin Complex

We report on a novel manganese(III)-porphyrin complex with the formula [Mn(III) (TPP)(3,5-Me2 pyNO)2 ]ClO4 ⋅CH3 CN (2; 3,5-Me2 pyNO=3,5-dimethylpyridine N-oxide, H2 TPP=5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin), in which the Mn(III) ion is six-coordinate with two monodentate 3,5-Me2 pyNO molecules and a tetradentate TPP ligand to build a tetragonally elongated octahedral geometry. The environment in 2 is responsible for the large and negative axial zero-field splitting (D=-3.8 cm(-1) ), low rhombicity (E/|D|=0.04) of the high-spin Mn(III) ion, and, ultimately, for the observation of slow magnetic-relaxation effects (Ea =15.5 cm(-1) at H=1000 G) in this rare example of a manganese-based single-ion ma…

Preparation and structural characterization of Ph3Sn(IV)+ complexes with pyridinecarboxylic acids or hydroxypyridene, -pyrimidine and –quinoline.

A number of [Ph3Sn(IV)](+) complexes formed with ligands containing -OH (-C=O), or -COOH group(s) and aromatic IN) donor atom have been prepared. The binding sites of the ligands were identified by FT-IR spectroscopic measurements. In the complexes containing hydroxy and carboxylate functions, the carboxylato group is coordinated to the organotin(IV) centres in monodentate or bridging bidentate manner. It was also found that in the hydroxypyridine and -pyrimidine complexes the [Ph3Sn(IV)]+ moiety in most cases reacts with the phenolic form of the ligands. Abstract The new tetranuclear nickel(II) complex [Ni4(OH)(L)(HL)2(CH3OH)1.5(H2O)1.5]·9H2O (1) has been synthesised by the reaction of NiCl2·6H2O and the Schiff base ligand H3L (H3L = (CH3O)(OH)C6H3CH N–C(CH3)(CH2OH)2), prepared by the 1:1 condensation of 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol and o-vanillin, and characterized by different physicochemical methods. Single crystal X-ray structural determination identifies a Ni4O4 cubane moiety as the central part of the complex unit. The presence of a single μ3-hydroxido bridged oxygen occupying only one vertex of the Ni4O4 cubane core is rare in Ni4O4 cubanes (ca. 5% of occurrence). Mono-organotin(IV) and tin(IV) derivatives of 2-mercaptopyridine (HSPy) and 2-mercaptopyrimidine (HSPym), RSnL 3 (R=Me, n-Bu, Ph; L=SPy, SPym; R=Bz=benzyl, o-CIBz, oClC 6 H 4 , p-ClC 6 H 4 , o-tolyl, p-tolyl; L=SPy), RSnCIL 2 (R=Me, n-Bu, Ph; L=SPy, SPym), RSnCI 2 L (R=Me, n-Bu; L=SPy, SPym) and SnCI 4-n L n (L=SPy, SPym; n=2,4) were obtained from RSnCI 3 or SnCI 4 and NaL or by neutralization (R=Ph,p-tolyl; L=SPy, SPym). Abstract New metal complexes of cinoxacin (HCx=1-ethyl-l,4-dihydro-4-oxo(1,3)dioxolo(4,5-g)cinnoline-3-carboxylic acid) were synthesized, isolated as [Zn(Cx)2(DMSO)2]·4H2O, [Ni(Cx)2(DMSO)2]·4H2O, Zn(Cx)2·4H20 and Ni(Cx)2·2H2O, and characterized by elemental analysis, TG studies, IR and UVVis spectroscopic techniques.
