Abstract. This paper describes the background, instrumentation, goals, and the regional influences on the HUMPPA-COPEC intensive field measurement campaign, conducted at the Boreal forest research station SMEAR II (Station for Measuring Ecosystem-Atmosphere Relation) in Hyytiälä, Finland from 12 July–12 August 2010. The prevailing meteorological conditions during the campaign are examined and contrasted with those of the past six years. Back trajectory analyses show that meteorological conditions at the site in 2010 were characterized by a higher proportion of southerly flow than in the other years studied. Petagnaea gussonei is a rhizomatous, perennial scapose hemicryptophyte species belonging to a monospecific genus of Apiaceae. It lives only along woodland rivulets and is a Tertiary relic localized in the restricted area of the Nebrodi Mountains (NE Sicily, Italy). Ecological indicators have been employed to understand the status of eight localities (intermittent rivulets) where the species occurs. In order to evaluate both the rivulets' water-quality and landscape use, index of anthropisation (Ia), water fleas bioassay (TU), and analyses of water macroinvertebrates have been employed. Cercospora beticola Sacc. jest najgroźniejszym patogenem liści buraka cukrowego we wszystkich rejonach uprawy tej rośliny. W niniejszym opracowaniu zebrano najważniejszą wiedzę dotyczącą pozycji systematycznej, biologii, morfologii grzyba oraz jego żywicieli. Opisano warunki, w których dochodzi do infekcji roślin gospodarza oraz wpływ warunków atmosferycznych na rozwój choroby na roślinach. Podano podstawowe informacje na temat rozprzestrzeniania się oraz zimowania C. beticola w warunkach naturalnych. Opisano wpływ na rośliny gospodarza oraz powodowane straty w plonie korzeni i cukru. Całość zagadnienia omówiono w oparciu o polską i światową szeroką bazę literaturową.

Woodland key habitats in northern Europe: concepts, inventory and protection

Abstract The woodland key habitat (WKH) concept has become an essential instrument in biodiversity-orientated forest management in northern Europe. The philosophy behind the concept is basically the same in all of the countries: to conserve the biodiversity of production landscapes by preserving small habitat patches that are supposed to be particularly valuable. This article reviews the definitions, inventories and implementation processes of WKHs in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. Impacto del desempeño de los estudiantes en una metodología de evaluación continua en Moodle en el examen final

Este trabajo examina la diferente evolución del rendimiento de los estudiantes en cuestionarios online y su impacto en la calificación final. Esta innovadora técnica se ha utilizado en un grupo de un curso introductorio de contabilidad financiera con 8 cuestionarios online (uno por unidad temática) a través de la plataforma Moodle. Empleando el análisis cluster, identificamos diferentes grupos de evolución del rendimiento. La evidencia obtenida sugiere que en uno de estos grupos una evolución favorable del rendimiento en los test online puede conducir a un exceso de confianza, con el posterior efecto negativo en la nota del examen final. Daudzas augstākas izglītības iestādes aktīvi izmanto e-apmācības sistēmas, ar ko padara izglītības procesu pieejamāku. Bieži vien šādu sistēmu izstrādātāji koncentrējas uz tehnoloģiskajiem aspektiem, un neņem vērā gala lietotāju vajadzībās un prasības. Rezultātā izstrādātie risinājumi mēdz būt grūti saprotami, un neērti lietojami. Šajā darba ietvaros tika veikta detalizēta problēmas teorētiska analīze. E-studiju sistēma Moodle apskatīta no funkcionalitātes paplašināšanas viedokļa. Pētījuma nolūks – piedāvāt risinājumu, kas balstīts uz Moodle tehniskajām iespējām un kas varētu tikt izmantots Latvijas Universitātes Datorikas fakultātes pirmā kursa studentu atbiruma problēmas risināšanā. Proboscidea: a preliminary note

Abstract Proboscidean remains collected during the 1983–1989 field seasons are described here. They are assigned to Deinotherium aff. levius (14 isolated teeth) and to Gomphotherium pasalarense (44 isolated teeth). No evidence was found for another subspecies described by Gaziry from Pasalar. The proboscidea are probably indicative of woodland conditions at Pasalar.
