This short paper addresses the problem of vibration in wind turbine towers. These structures are subject to winds and waves causing undesirable vibrations that affect the structure integrity and system performance. In order to mitigate the vibrations of the tower, a controllable tuned liquid column damper is placed on its top. We propose the use of H ∞ control techniques to formulate a control law. Furthermore, the controller uses output feedback to avoid the dependence on the knowledge of the states of the system. Simulation results illustrate the design procedure proposed in this paper.

In recent years, cases of child-to-parent violence (CPV) have increased significantly, prompting greater scientific interest in clarifying its causes. The aim of this research was to study the relationship between styles of family communication (open, offensive and avoidant), emotional intelligence or EI (attention, repair and perceived emotional clarity) and CPV, taking into account the gender of the aggressors. Han var dømt for flere forhold og satt nå inne for tredje gang. Ut fra Konfliktrådet i Agder har vi over et år truffet flere innsatte i fengselet og pratet med dem om deres egne konflikter og deres behov for å benytte seg av megling. Prosjektet "Megling i voldssaker" ved Konfliktrådet for Hordaland : evalueringsrapport

På omslaget: Fakultet for helse- og idrettsfag Forsøksprosjektet ”Megling i voldssaker” ble knyttet til konfliktrådet for Hordaland og gikk over tre år (april 2000-mars 2004). Det ble tilsatt prosjektleder, og tolv erfarne meglere fra konfliktrådet fikk tilleggsopplæring i megling i voldssaker. I alt 186 personer i 79 voldssaker ble invitert til deltakelse, men ved prosjektets slutt hadde bare åtte meglinger funnet sted, det vil si i ti prosent av sakene. En innlysende grunn til at det ble så få meglinger var at de voldsofre og -utøvere man tilbød å møtes til megling ikke ønsket å møte. Avian eggs contain considerable amounts of maternal yolk androgens, which have been shown to beneficially influence the physiology and behaviour of the chick. As androgens may suppress immune functions, they may also entail costs for the chick. Effectiveness of cover crops to reduce loss of soil organic matter in a rainfed vineyard

Cover crops (CCs) minimize the loss of soil in permanent cropping systems where the soil is usually bare due to intense tillage or overuse of herbicides. The topsoil, the richer layer in soil organic carbon and organic matter (OM), is affected by water erosion. Nature-based solutions appear as a suitable option for sustainable farming. In this study, the effectiveness of two years of CC management to reduce the OM loss is evaluated in a rainfed vineyard in a rolling landscape (Huesca, NE Spain).
