FIFAn valtapeli : Etelä-Afrikan jalkapallon MM-kisat 2010 keskitettynä mediaspektaakkelina

2014

Nykyisiä miesten jalkapallon MM-kisoja voi kutsua keskitetyiksi mediaspektaakkeleiksi. Ne ovat myös merkittäviä vallankäytön areenoita. Kansainvälinen jalkapalloliitto, kisaisäntä ja televisio muodostavat jalkapallon MM-kisojen tuotanto- ja valtakoneiston. Miten valta toimii jalkapallon MM-kisoissa?

2016

Sustainable fertilization is one of the most important treatments of modern agriculture. Organic agriculture with new demands on agricultural practice, seeks to restrict the use of mineral fertilizers in favor of slow-action organic fertilizers. The fertilizers which are made on the farm are particularly valuable due to their quality and the absence of costs of purchase and transport. From this point of view, the new possibilities of using an organic matter which comes from waste of the food industry or biodegradable wastes from households proves to be interesting. Due to the absence of contamination with other types of waste, it can be used for the production of a fertilizer which could be…

Ski jumping takeoff in a wind tunnel with skis.

2011

The effect of skis on the force–time characteristics of the simulated ski jumping takeoff was examined in a wind tunnel. Takeoff forces were recorded with a force plate installed under the tunnel floor. Signals from the front and rear parts of the force plate were collected separately to examine the anteroposterior balance of the jumpers during the takeoff. Two ski jumpers performed simulated takeoffs, first without skis in nonwind conditions and in various wind conditions. Thereafter, the same experiments were repeated with skis. The jumpers were able to perform very natural takeoff actions (similar to the actual takeoff) with skis in wind tunnel. According to the subjective feeling of the…

Starvation can diversify the population structure and virulence strategies of an environmentally transmitting fish pathogen

2014

Background. Generalist bacterial pathogens, with the ability for environmental survival and growth, often face variable conditions during their outside-host period. Abiotic factors (such as nutrient deprivation) act as selection pressures for bacterial characteristics, but their effect on virulence is not entirely understood. “Sit and wait” hypothesis expects that long outside-host survival selects for increased virulence, but maintaining virulence in the absence of hosts is generally expected to be costly if active investments are needed. We analysed how long term starvation influences bacterial population structure and virulence of an environmentally transmitting fish pathogen Flavobacter…

UNA STORIA SEMPLICE? SURROGAZIONI, ALTERAZIONI, FALSIFICAZIONI

2015

Official Development Assistance in fragile states: an unresolved issue - Focus on education

2013

Since the mid 2000s, the theme of "fragile states" became a structuring axis of development policies of most donors. Insofar as investment in education is perceived as a necessary, if not sufficient, to vanquish poverty, the option to stimulate and accelerate the development of education constitutes an opportunity for the international community. Even if it means that the latter also has to exercise some forms of interference. The findings of our empirical analysis show, that within fragile states, the emergence of a current contradiction between the inclusive nature of the EFA goals and the exclusionary nature of the paradigms on which foreign aid is based (effectiveness and results). This…

International aid on education in fragile states and armed conflict: what prospects?

2013

Currently, over a third of children not in school live in countries considered being as fragile or affected by an armed conflict. These countries, which are mainly located in sub-Saharan Africa, will not reach the objectives of Education For All for 2015. This paper covers approaches across comparative education, political science and sociology of organizations. The question is: what prospects for international assistance on education in fragile states and countries affected by armed conflict? Our study explores empirically the conditions of intervention of international aid within the contexts of fragility and armed conflict. Insofar as investment in education is perceived as a necessary, …

Digitalisering i patologi : Hvilke faktorer mener patologer har størst betydning ved implementering av digital patologi?

2019

Masteroppgave helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI500 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 Diagnostic pathology is essential for diagnosing cancer and often also in guiding choice of treatment method. However many claim it has become a bottleneck within cancer treatment, due partly to the fact that the number of pathologists is not expanding in line with the increasing workload. Digital pathology (DP) is considered to be the solution for increased efficiency within the field of pathology. The implementation of health information systems is complex and involves technical, human and organisational aspects, and information systems of all types have consistently failed to deliver expected gains. In this study…

Exploring determinants of different information security behaviors

2016

Aim: The aim was to introduce new explanatory construct, namely illegitimate tasks from Stress-as-Offense-to-Self Theory (SOS), to better understand information security behavior (ISB). In addition, more commonly used constructs from Deterrence theory (DT) and Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) were used to explain ISB. This study also investigated several behaviors separately to evaluate the generalizability of the behavioral determinants. Methods: Four ISBs, namely general ISP compliance (ISP), not copying sensitive information to the unsecured USB drive (USB), locking or logging out from the computer (LOG), and not writing down passwords (PSW). Formal and informal sanctions from DT, thre…
