Väestön ikääntymisen myötä eläkeikäisten ihmisten rooli on noussut tärkeään asemaan myös vieraiden kielten oppimisessa ja opetuksessa. Ikääntyneitä oppijoita on kuitenkin tutkittu Suomessa vielä valitettavan vähän. Poikkeuksena mainittakoon Aino Jaatisen (2003) paljolti omaksi avukseen laatima tutkimus ikääntyneistä englannin oppijoista, jota on käytetty pohjakirjallisuutena myös tässä tutkielmassa. Tämän proseminaarityön päämääränä on ollut kartoittaa vieraiden kielten opettajien havaintoja iäkkäistä oppijoista sekä heidän mahdollisesti käyttämiä opetusmetodejaan. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine whether wisdom is a mediator in the relation-ships between religious meaning system and social support among older adults. According to the theory of gerotranscendence, associations of religiousness and social support are complex and sug- gest the existence of wisdom in their internal structures. Method: The study included 466 persons aged 50–75. Three measures were used: Religious Meaning System Scale (RMSS), Three-Dimensional Wisdom Scale (3D-WS) and Berlin Social Support Scales (BSSS). Artykuł jest próbą organicznego ujęcia pedagogiki i duchowości gerontologicznej – wychowania w perspektywie starości. Pedagogika ostatniego okresu życia ludzkiego jest jedną z najmłodszych dyscyplin pedagogiki ogólnej. Współcześnie obserwuje się jej dynamiczny rozwój, związany z globalnymi zmianami demograficznymi, postępem medycyny oraz stale wydłużającym się wiekiem życia, stąd też wzrasta pozytywne postrzeganie problemu starości i pilna potrzeba nie tylko fachowej opieki lekarskiej, ale również właściwej organicznej edukacji gerontologicznej. O wartości życia nie decyduje bowiem liczba lat, ale to, czy było ono dobrze przeżyte oraz mądre i pięknie rozwijane. Istotny jest końcowy efekt (c…
