Die autoxydation von linolsäuremethylesterhydroperoxyd. Über die autoxydation ungesättigter verbindungen. XIII. Mitteilung

Linolsauremethylesterhydroperoxyd wurde mit Hilfe der O'KEEFFE-Verteilung aus autoxydiertem Linolsauremethylester isoliert. Die Autoxydation dieses Hydroperoxydes verlauft rascher als die des Linolsaureesters. Die Reaktion verlaft aber nicht autokatalytisch und ist nach Aufnahme von 1 Mol Sauerstoff pro Mol Hydroperoxyd praktisch beendet; die Hydroperoxydgruppen bleiben dabei zum grosten Teil erhalten, die konjugierten Doppelbindungen verschwinden. Die Aktivierungsenergie dieser Reaktion ist um 3 kcal/Mol kleiner als die der Autoxydation des Linolsauremethylesters. SummaryEndocytosis is an essential process by which eukaryotic cells internalize exogenous material or regulate signaling at the cell surface [1]. Different endocytic pathways are well established in yeast and animals; prominent among them is clathrin-dependent endocytosis [2, 3]. In plants, endocytosis is poorly defined, and no molecular mechanism for cargo internalization has been demonstrated so far [4, 5], although the internalization of receptor-ligand complexes at the plant plasma membrane has recently been shown [6]. Olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae) is the most serious pest of cultivated olives in the Mediterranean basin. to date we have not seen the same level of damage in south africa, but the question remained whether it poses a similar threat as the local olive industry expands. From this study it is clear that the climatic con- ditions during the period preceding harvest are un- favourable for rapid population growth of OFF in the Western Cape, in contrast to conditions in the coastal area of Trapani province in Sicily. Research of Complex Forms in Cellular Automata by Evolutionary Algorithms

This paper presents an evolutionary approach for the search for new complex cellular automata. Two evolutionary algorithms are used: the first one discovers rules supporting gliders and periodic patterns, and the second one discovers glider guns in cellular automata. An automaton allowing us to simulate AND and NOT gates is discovered. The results are a step toward the general simulation of Boolean circuits by this automaton and show that the evolutionary approach is a promising technic for searching for cellular automata that support universal computation.

Oleanonic acid, a 3-oxotriterpene from Pistacia, inhibits leukotriene synthesis and has anti-inflammatory activity.

One of the best known bioactive triterpenoids is oleanolic acid, a widespread 3-hydroxy-17-carboxy oleanane-type compound. In order to determine whether further oxidation of carbon 3 affects anti-inflammatory activity in mice, different tests were carried out on oleanolic acid and its 3-oxo-analogue oleanonic acid, which was obtained from Pistacia terebinthus galls. Analysis of Spatially and Temporally Overlapping Events with Application to Image Sequences

Counting spatially and temporally overlapping events in image sequences and estimating their shape-size and duration features are important issues in some applications. We propose a stochastic model, a particular case of the nonisotropic 3D Boolean model, for performing this analysis: the temporal Boolean model. Some probabilistic properties are derived and a methodology for parameter estimation from time-lapse image sequences is proposed using an explicit treatment of the temporal dimension.
