Tässä pitkittäistutkimuksessa selvitämme kolmenkymmenen vuoden aikajänteellä, millaiseksi painetun sanomalehden urheilu-uutisointi on muuttunut, kun tiedon digitalisaation sekä internetin ja sosiaalisen median myötä on siirrytty monikanavajulkaisemisen aikakaudelle. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu Iltalehden vuosien 1988 ja 2018 talviolympiauutisoinnista. Analysoimme aineistoa määrällisesti sanomalehtien urheilu-uutisten tarkasteluun kehitetyllä mittarilla, jonka sisältämien muuttujien mukaisesti olemme mitanneet ja luokitelleet kaikki aineiston jutut ja kuvat. Suomalainen ammattimainen urheiluvalmennus alkoi 1920-luvulla. Yleisurheiluvalmentaja Jaakko Mikkola jätti jälkeensä lajin kaikkien aikojen parhaan menestyksen Pariisin olympiakisoissa 1924. Analysoin artikkelissa olympiavalmentaja Mikkolaa, hänen työnkuvaansa ja valmennuskäsitystään Mikkolan lähettämien kirjeiden ja muiden aikalaislähteiden avulla 1920-luvun alkupuoliskolla.

This research will analyze the variables differentiating between the audiovisual television of the XIII edition of the Paralympic Games and the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, held in Beijing from the 7th of September to the 17th, 2008. This study will serve as a methodological basis for similar future research. By means of a qualitative and quantitative methodology, this study also focuses on determining if TV representations of Paralympic sportspersons favour their social integration or if, on the contrary, lead to higher stigmatization.
