Tunable Interaction Strength and Nature of the S···Br Halogen Bonds in [(Thione)Br2] Systems

The strength and nature of the S···Br and Br···Br interactions were systematically tuned by altering the electron donor properties of the thione group. Three new halogen-bonded compounds, [(N-methylbenzothiazole-2-thione)Br2]·0.5CH2Cl2 (1), [(2(3H)-benzothiazolethione)Br2] (2), and [(2-benzimidazolethione)Br]·[Br3] (3), were synthesized and studied structurally by using X-ray crystallography and computationally by using charge density analysis based on QTAIM calculations. A competitive reactivity study on the oxidative cyclization of thiosemicarbazones into 1,3,4-thiadiazoles

Abstract In order to obtain useful insights on the mechanism of formation of 2(3H)-imino-1,3,4-thiadiazoles by oxidative cyclization of aldehyde thiosemicarbazones with Cu(II) or Fe(III) salts, a competitive reactivity study was performed on a suitable set of diversely substituted substrates, by means of HPLC techniques. This approach enabled to exploit Hammett’s equation without performing otherwise difficult-to-run kinetic experiments. In fish, the lipid resources of the female form a link between the environment and progeny, contributing to the contents of the egg yolk. Variation of the environmental conditions is therefore expected to affect the egg quality via maternal pathways, reflecting the female’s response to the environmental factors before spawning. We investigated the content of lipids and thyroid hormones in the ovary and eggs of the Baltic herring during 1988–2019, when salinity of the Baltic Sea first declined and then stabilized to a lower level, and winters varied between severe and mild.
