The essential identity of the framework structures of ZSM-8 and ZSM-5
1994
The crystal structures of TEA-ZSM-8 and its calcined template-free form have been studied by Rietveld analyses based on X-ray powder diffraction data. The results show that the aluminosilicate framework structure of ZSM-8 is essentially identical to that of ZSM-5. The tetraethylammonium molecule could be located in the difference Fourier analysis yielding positions similar to its TPA counterpart in ZSM-5. Lattice constants of ZSM-8 are in the same range as for ZSM-5. Contrary results are related to incorrectly indexed powder patterns. Optical investigations of ZSM-5 and ZSM-8 crystals showed that the zeolites studied here are both twinned exhibiting differently shaped twin individuals.
Dimeric capsules of tetraurea calix[4]arenes. MD simulations and X-ray structure, a comparison
2002
The single crystal X-ray structure of a homodimer of a tetra(tolylurea) calix[4]arene including a tetraethylammonium cation as guest shows an expansion of the capsule and a distortion of its shape, in comparison to the structure of a similar dimer with an encapsulated benzene molecule. Thus, only 8 of 16 possible hydrogen bonds are present in the hydrogen bonded belt holding together the two hemispheres. The encapsulated cation is disordered over two equivalent positions with two methyl groups pointing to the equator, while two methyl groups pointing to the poles form CH–π interactions with the inner surfaces of the calixarene cavities. MD simulations are in agreement with the distorted X-r…
Azolium and acetate ions in DMF: Formation of free N-heterocyclic carbene. A voltammetric analysis
2016
In order to reveal the possible formation of free N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) in DMF-azolium and acetate solutions, the proton exchange equilibrium between azolium cations and CH3COO− was investigated (by cyclic voltammetry) by adding CH3COOH or tetrabutylammonium acetate to DMF solutions of imidazolium or thiazolium salts of different acidity. The voltammetric analysis confirms that the deprotonation of the azolium cation by CH3COO− (with the formation of free NHC) is significant in the case of the more acidic thiazolium cations, while it is not effective with the less acidic imidazolium ones.Accordingly, the NHC-catalyzed benzoin condensation was carried out in DMF solutions of azolium sa…
Study of the Evolutionary Relationships among Limonium Species (Plumbaginaceae) Using Nuclear and Cytoplasmic Molecular Markers
2000
The genus Limonium, due to the patchiness of the natural habitats of its species as well as the high frequency of hybridization and polyploidy and the possibility of reproduction by apomixis, provides an example of all the principal mechanisms of rapid speciation of plants. As an initial study of evolution in this genus, we have analyzed intra- and interspecific variability in 17 species from section Limonium, the largest in the genus, based on RFLPs of cpDNA and nuclear rDNA ITS sequences. In the cpDNA analysis, 21 restriction enzymes were used, resulting in 779 fragments, 490 of which were variable and 339 parsimony informative. L. furfuraceum exhibited two relatively divergent cpDNA hapl…
Activation and translocation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase after stimulation of monocytes with contact sensitizers.
2002
Recently we described the induction of tyrosine phosphorylation by contact sensitizers as an early molecular event during the activation of antigen- presenting cells. In this study, the role of the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase for the activation of human monocytes after exposure to four structurally unrelated contact sensitizers was analyzed in comparison with the irritant benzalkonium chloride and an inductor of oxidative stress (H 2 O 2 ) using immunofluorescence, Western blotting, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay techniques. Bio chemical analysis revealed a translocation of p38 from the cytoplasm to the detergent-resistant cell fraction only upon stimulation with contact sen…
Induction of DNA strand breaks and expression of HSP70 and GRP78 homolog by cadmium in the marine sponge Suberites domuncula
1998
The marine sponge Suberites domuncula was used as a bioindicator to study the effects of cadmium on the occurrence of DNA strand breakage and on the induction of the expression of the stress biomarkers, heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) homolog. The cDNA encoding GRP78 homolog from S. domuncula was isolated and characterized. The GRP78 cDNA has a length of 2.1 kb and displays characteristic features of the HSP70 family ; it encodes an aa sequence of M-r 72, 000. Exposure of S. domuncula to 1 mg/L of cadmium chloride for 24 h caused a strong(16.6-fold) increase in cadmium content to 7.7 mu g/g wet weight of sponge tissue ; after an incubation period of 6 …
Impact of biocide treatments on the bacterial communities of the Lascaux Cave.
2009
The Lascaux Cave contains a remarkable set of paintings from the Upper Palaeolithic. Shortly after discovery in 1940, the cave was modified for public viewing and, in 2001, was invaded by a Fusarium solani species complex. Benzalkonium chloride was used from 2001 to 2004 to eliminate the fungal outbreak. In this study, we carried out a sampling in most of the cave halls and galleries. Sequence analysis and isolation methods detected that the most abundant genera of bacteria were Ralstonia and Pseudomonas. We suggest that, as a result of years of benzalkonium chloride treatments, the indigenous microbial community has been replaced by microbial populations selected by biocide application.

Observation of ψ(3686)→η′e+e−
2018
Abstract Using a data sample of 448.1 × 10 6 ψ ( 3686 ) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we report the first observation of the electromagnetic Dalitz decay ψ ( 3686 ) → η ′ e + e − , with significances of 7.0σ and 6.3σ when reconstructing the η ′ meson via its decay modes η ′ → γ π + π − and η ′ → π + π − η ( η → γ γ ), respectively. The weighted average branching fraction is determined to be B ( ψ ( 3686 ) → η ′ e + e − ) = ( 1.90 ± 0.25 ± 0.11 ) × 10 − 6 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.
Quantitative Data on Petunia Embryogenesis: Mitotic Activity and Characteristics of the Cell Cycles
1988
The studies on the embryonal development of Angiosperms are essentially descriptive and some quantitative data are only available at the present time. Within Dicotyledons, one must mentioned the works of Rietsema and al. (1955) on the growth of ovules and embryos of Datura stramonium, the interesting comparison between the growth of Capsella and Gossypium embryos effected by Pollock and Jensen (1964), the studies of Simoncioli (1974) and Tykarska (1980) on two Brassicaceae, respectively Diplotaxis erucoides and Brassica napus, and the work of Gray and al. (1984) on the embryo development of Daucus carota.
