Root Canal Morphology of 116 Maxillary Second Premolars by Micro–Computed Tomography in a Mixed Swiss-German Population with Systematic Review

Abstract Introduction The aim of this investigation was to examine the root canal system morphology of maxillary second premolars (Mx2Ps) of a Swiss-German population by means of micro–computed tomography and provide systematic review of the root canal configuration (RCC) literature of Mx2Ps. Methods The RCC, main foramina as well as accessory canals and foramina frequency of 116 Mx2Ps, were investigated by means of micro–computed tomography and 3-dimensional software imaging. Temperature changes in 2% chlorhexidine gluconate using two activation methods with different intensity levels

Background Chlorhexidine is an irrigant solution widely used in root canal treatment because of its good antimicrobial properties. However, its mixture with sodium hypochlorite results in the appearance of substance called p-chloroaniline, a cytotoxic substance. This is also found when chlorhexidine is heated. The use of passive ultrasonic irrigation is related to an irrigant thermal increase, which can cause the appearance of p-chloroaniline. Aim of the Work: The aim of this work was to evaluate Ni e Cr ions in the saliva of subjects with and without fixed orthodontic appliances. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective, non-randomized study of 100 patients, so selected: 50 have undergone fixed orthodontic appliance at least from 24 months; others 50 subjects as control-group, without any fixed and/or removable orthodontic appliance It was conducted according to the Declaration of the World Medical Association of Helsinki. Heat shock protein 70 dampens the inflammatory response of human PDL cells to mechanical loading in vitro

The cellular reaction was dampened by heat pre-treatment suggesting a protective role for heat shock proteins (HSP) during stress-induced ischemia. Background: Irrigation of the root canal system is an essential step in the endodontic treatment. The aim of this article is to introduce continuous apical negative-pressure ultrasonic irrigation (CANUI), a new irrigation concept, and compare the characteristics of this new technique with current devices for activating the irrigant.
