The University of Jyväskylä aims to be an institution advancing free scholarly information. To support this the Rector has recommended researchers, starting from the beginning of 2011, to save the final draft (aka post-print) files of their research articles in TUTKA register at the same time when recording the relating data. By the end of the year 2011 was seen that only 200 articles had been posted. It became necessary to find out what researchers generally think about the Open Access issues. W artykule omówiono – na przykładzie Uniwersytetu Opolskiego – trzy obszary działalności informacyjnej oraz komunikacji naukowej na podstawie sieciowego obiegu informacji z wykorzystaniem sieci Internet – udostępnianie światowych baz danych w ramach tzw. licencji krajowych, uczelnianych repozytoriów instytucjonalnych oraz realizowanie polityki otwartego dostępu. Obszary tej działalności należą obecnie do strategicznych zadań zespołów, które odpowiadają za zarządzanie dostępem do informacji naukowej.

Librarians are taking new roles and participating the research process as partners of the researchers. Librarians are more and more experts on publishing and data management and consultants on Open Science. Jyväskylän yliopiston tutkijoita on vuoden 2011 alusta asti kehotettu tallentamaan tieteellisten artikkeliensa ns. final draft -versiot TUTKA-tutkimusrekisteriin normaalin julkaisukirjauksen liitteeksi. Tavoitteena on rinnakkaistallentaa nämä vertaisarvioinnin läpikäyneet artikkeliversiot yliopiston avoimeen julkaisuarkisto JYXiin aina, kun se artikkelien alkuperäisen kustantajan linjauksen mukaan on sallittua. Tällä tavoitellaan tutkimuksen parempaa näkyvyyttä ja vaikuttavuutta. Vuoden 2011 aikana avoimeen JYX-arkistoon tallennettiin kehotuksesta huolimatta vain noin 200 artikkelia. Tuli tarpeen selvittää, miten asiaan yleensäkin tutkijoiden keskuudessa suhtaudutaan.
