Identification of a mannoprotein present in the inner layer of the cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Cell wall extracts from the double-mutant mnn1 mnn9 strain were used as the immunogen to obtain a monoclonal antibody (MAb), SAC A6, that recognizes a specific mannoprotein--which we have named Icwp--in the walls of cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Icwp runs as a polydisperse band of over 180 kDa in sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis analysis of Zymolyase extracts of cell walls, although an analysis of the secretory pattern of the mannoprotein shows that at the level of secretory vesicles, it behaves like a discrete band of 140 kDa. Selective oxidation of propane over alkali-doped Mo-V-Sb-O catalysts

[EN] Alkali metal-doped MoVSbO catalysts have been prepared by impregnation of a MoVSbO-mixed oxide (prepared previously by a hydrothermal synthesis) and finally activated at 500 or 600 degrees C in N-2. The catalysts have been characterized and tested for the selective oxidation of propane and propylene. Alkali-doped catalysts improved in general the catalytic performance of MoVSbO, resulting more selective to acrylic acid and less selective to acetic acid than the corresponding alkali-free MoVSbO catalysts. Stability of carotenoid extracts of gấc (Momordica cochinchinensis) towards cooxidation — Protective effect of lycopene on β-carotene

International audience; Momordica cochinchinensis, so-called gấc in Vietnam, is considered as a fruit with high nutritional potential. Its antioxidant property, due to a high concentration of carotenes (β-carotene and lycopene), is particularly estimated. In this study, we have investigated the degradation of carotene extracts obtained from gấc aril. These extracts were dispersed in the aqueous phase in Tween 80 micelles or were encapsulated into polylactic acid (PLA) particles. In both cases, carotenes were far less degraded than synthetic β-carotene. Monotonicity-based inversion of the fractional Schr\"odinger equation II. General potentials and stability

In this work, we use monotonicity-based methods for the fractional Schr\"odinger equation with general potentials $q\in L^\infty(\Omega)$ in a Lipschitz bounded open set $\Omega\subset \mathbb R^n$ in any dimension $n\in \mathbb N$. We demonstrate that if-and-only-if monotonicity relations between potentials and the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map hold up to a finite dimensional subspace. Based on these if-and-only-if monotonicity relations, we derive a constructive global uniqueness results for the fractional Calder\'on problem and its linearized version. Color degradation mapping of rock art paintings using microfading spectrometry

[EN] Rock art documentation is a complex task that should be carried out in a complete, rigorous and exhaustive way, in order to take particular actions that allow stakeholders to preserve the archaeological sites under constant deterioration. The pigments used in prehistoric paintings present high light sensitivity and rigorous scientific color degradation mapping is not usually undertaken in overall archaeological sites. Microfading spectrometry is a suitable technique for determining the light-stability of pigments found in rock art paintings in a non-destructive way. Rock art studies are facing major technical challenges for extensive documentation. Nowadays, recording is essentially obtained from time-consuming tracing and rubbing, techniques that also require a high level of expertise. The public and private use of space in Magdalenian societies: Evidence from Oelknitz 3, LOP (Thuringia, Germany)

Abstract The site of Oelknitz (Thuringia, Germany) is among the largest and in terms of spatial organisation most complex Magdalenian open air sites known to date, rich in evident structures. The current paper reports evidence from the youngest, latest phase of occupation at Oelknitz Structure 3. It is demonstrated that this structure represents a dwelling construction characterised by different spatially distinct activity zones. Several hypotheses can be drawn from this evidence in order to understand basic principles on Magdalenians’ settlement behaviour and their social cohesion.
