A Management Model of ICT Adoption in Latvia

AbstractThis paper describes and analyzes the validity of a managerial model for ICT adoption. The proposed model of ICT adoption decision has two components: an objective component (largely from an economic understanding) and a managerial component (from firm level factors). The factors in both components were considered at firm level. The analysis and confirmation come from a survey of 500 businesses in Latvia in 2008. Science policy increasingly focuses on maximising societal benefits from science and technology investments, but often reduces those benefits to activities involving codifying and selling knowledge, thereby idealising best practice academic behaviours around entrepreneurial superstars. The purpose of the study was to test a model of causal relationships among cognitive reserve (CR), personality variables such as Neuroticism and Openness to experience, and divergent thinking (DT), independently evaluating performance in different domains (verbal and graphic). It was hypothesized that CR, Openness, and Neuroticism would each directly influence verbal and graphic DT. We prove that there do not exist positively expansive cellular automata defined on the full k-ary tree shift (for k>=2). Moreover, we investigate some topological properties of these automata and their relationships, namely permutivity, surjectivity, preinjectivity, right-closingness and openness.
