IMPACT OF CARTILAGE DAMAGE ON ARTHROGENIC MUSCLE INHIBITION IN PATIENTS WITH MENISCUS INJURIES

2016

Background: Knee traumata are associated with arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI). We aimed to identify impact factors on AMI. Methods: A total of 37 patients with meniscus injuries were interviewed and examined for maximum isometric knee extensor force preoperatively. We analyzed AMI as relative maximum isometric force between healthy and injured legs. Regression analyses were computed to evaluate associations between an AMI with muscle-strength reduction [Formula: see text]% and several parameters and between cartilage damage[Formula: see text][Formula: see text][Formula: see text]stadium 3 and several parameters. ROC curves were calculated to investigate effectiveness of age and pain at…

In vitro quantitative comparison of erosive potential of infant mouthwashes on glass ionomer cement

2018

Background The widespread use of mouthwashes, specially in children, is a concern, since the long-term use may modify the topography of dental materials. However, this process still unclear regarding the wear related to infant mouthwashes on glass ionomer cement. Thus, the purpose of this investigation was evaluate the erosive potential of infant mouthwashes on glass ionomer cement specimens. Material and methods Forty round-shaped specimens were divided into 4 groups (N=10) and submitted to erosive cycling for 15 days, being exposed 2X/day in the following children's active agents mouthwash solutions: G1- cetylpyridinium chloride, G2- xylitol and triclosan and G3 - Malva sylvestris and xyl…

Electromagnetic distal targeting system does not reduce the overall operative time of the intramedullary nailing for humeral shaft fractures

2018

Abstract Introduction We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the use of the electromagnetic distal targeting system in treating humeral shaft fracture. Methods Patients were divided in: Group 1) patients that received a distal locking screw placement following the free-hand technique; Group 2) patients in which the distal locking screw was performed using the SURESHOT device. Results No differences were noted comparing Group 1 (freehand) [71,9 range 40–135 min] to Group 2 (SURESHOT)[70, range 25–125 min]. Conclusion The use of the EM distal targeting system doesn't reduce the overall operative time of the humeral shaft fracture fixation using IMN.

Arm Hypervisor and Trustzone Alternatives

2020

Many scenarios such as DRM, payments, and homeland security require a trusted and verified trusted execution environment (TEE) on ARM. In most cases such TEE should be available in source code mode. The vendor cannot conduct code review and ensure that the operating system is trustworthy unless source code is available. Android and other rich execution environments (REEs) support various TEE implementations. Each TEE implementation has its own unique way of deploying trusted applications and features. Most TEEs in ARM can be started at TrustZone™ or Hyp (Hypervisor) mode. Choosing a proper TEE operating system can be a problem for trusted application developers and hardware vendors. This ar…

Regenerative endodontic procedure combined with apical surgery of a necrotic permanent incisor with extensive periapical lesion using plasma rich in …

2021

Background The aim of this case report is to describe the step-by step and outcomes of a treatment approach which simultaneously combines a Regenerative Endodontic Procedure (REP) and apical surgery using PRGF as treatment of a post-traumatic necrotic permanent central incisor with extensive periapical lesion and undeveloped apex in a 16 years-old patient. Case description A 16 years-old patient with an extensive periapical lesion in the maxillary central incisor was treated with a combination of REP and periapical surgery in the same visit. A Bi- antibiotic paste (BAP) was used to priorly disinfect the canal, which was posteriorly sealed with MTA placed over a PRGF clot at the same time th…

Patients’ conceptions of preoperative physiotherapy education before hip arthroplasty

2015

In Finland, over 7500 hip arthroplasties are performed annually. While the mean age of the patients has increased, the length of hospital stay has decreased, and this presents challenges for patient education. The aim of this study was to explore patients’ conceptions of preoperative physiotherapy education. This qualitative study included 10 hip arthroplasty patients. Data were collected using individual interviews at home before collecting preoperative information, and at the hospital after the operation. The interviews were tape-recorded and analysed using the phenomenographic method. Four hierarchically constructed categories of preoperative physiotherapy education were identified: read…

Evaluating a hierarchical approach to landscape-level harvest scheduling

2018

Forest planning at the landscape level has the potential to become a large intractable problem. In Finland, Metsähallitus (the state enterprise that manages federally owned land) creates strategic plans to determine the appropriate harvest level. While these plans are feasible, they are not implementable in practice as the harvests are scattered temporally and spatially. Requiring that harvests be organized both temporally and spatially for practical implementation can result in an intractable problem. Through a hierarchical approach, the problem can be organized into steps in which the intractable problem is broken down into smaller easily solvable parts. As an approximation technique, th…

Groupthink and Project Performance: The Influence of Personal Traits and Interpersonal Ties

2015

Contains fulltext : 166103.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) This study explores whether the negative impact of “groupthink concurrence-seeking behavior” (GTB) on business process reengineering (BPR) projects is affected by group members personal traits and interpersonal ties within the group. To this purpose we conduct and present the results of a longitudinal controlled field experiment over 18 BPR projects lasting 3 months and involving 18 teams comprising 71 first-year MBA students. The main contribution of this study is twofold. First, we explicitly consider and measure the core construct of groupthink phenomenon: that is, GTB. Existing organizational behavior literature has, …

Developing an Analytical Framework for Analyzing and Comparing National E-Government Strategies

2020

Part 1: E-Government Foundations; International audience; Across the world, e-government strategies are developed for the effective digitalization of the public sector. They offer governments a framework for dealing with challenges such as technical and legal interoperability and collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders, and for promoting a future vision for a digital public sector. Since e-government strategies are policy document and, thus, likely to convey biased perspectives, analyses of these strategies can yield insights into these biases and different perspectives on public sector digitalization. Until now, there has been no widely recognized framework for systema…
