Nutritional status is known to alter immune function, a suspected risk factor for non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). To investigate whether long-term over, or under, nutrition is associated with NHL, self-reported anthropometric data on weight and height from over 10,000 cases of NHL and 16,000 controls were pooled across 18 case-control studies identified through the International Lymphoma Epidemiology Consortium. Study-specific odds ratios (OR) were estimated using logistic regression and combined using a random-effects model. Intestinal graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) is a potentially life-threatening condition after allogenic hematological stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT). Although efforts have been made to determine the best sites for endoscopic biopsies, an approach involving all accessible anatomical regions is lacking. Abstract Background Neurosurgical operations in the dorsal cranium often require the patient to be positioned in a sitting position. This can be associated with decreased cardiac output and cerebral hypoperfusion, and possibly, inadequate cerebral oxygenation. In the present study, cerebral oxygen saturation was measured during neurosurgery in the sitting position and correlated with cardiac output. Tracheomalacia resulting from tracheostomy or compressive thyroid disease often represents a difficult problem in airway management. In an attempt to improve this condition, biocompatible ceramic rings were surgically implanted in 16 patients to restore normal patency of the airway by first expanding the tracheal lumen lateral, and then in an anterior dimension. Browser games--mostly persistent game worlds that can be used without client software and monetary cost with a Web browser--belong to the understudied digital game types, although they attract large player communities and motivate sustained play. The present work reports findings from an online survey of 8,203 players of a German strategy browser game ("Travian"). Results suggest that multiplayer browser games are enjoyed primarily because of the social relationships involved in game play and the specific time and flexibility characteristics ("easy-in, easy-out").
