The Effect of Interferences on the Uptake of Heavy Metals by Sodium (iron) Titanates from Waste Water

Sodium hexatitanate, sodium trititanate, sodium nonatitanate, and a new iron doped sodium nonatitanate were synthesized. Common interferences present in waste waters that hinder the removal of heavy metals by these ion exchangers were investigated. The presence of K+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ at 0.001-0.05 M concentration had minor effect on the amount of Pb2+, Cr3+, and Ni2+ uptake. EDTA on the other hand, interferes tremendously with the metal uptake. Both in ternary and in single system, the selectivity series is in the order: Pb2+>Cr3+>Ni2+. This order changed to Cr3+>Pb2+>Ni2+, in the presence of 0.001-0.1 M EDTA at pH 5.
Organocatalysts Fold to Generate an Active Site Pocket for the Mannich Reaction

Catalysts containing urea, thiourea and tertiary amine groups fold into a three-dimensional organized structure in solution both in the absence as well as in the presence of substrates or substrate analogues, as indicated by solution NMR and computational studies. These foldamer catalysts promote Mannich reactions with both aliphatic and aromatic imines and malonate esters. Hammett plot and secondary kinetic isotope effects provide evidence for the C-C bond forming event as the turnoverlimiting step of the Mannich reaction. In this longitudinal case study, a cooperative bank’s strategy, related performance management changes, institutionalization processes, and change drivers are studied. Old institutional economics is used in explaining how organizational routines and rules change and become taken for granted. However, there are several internal and external drivers of change in the banking sector, including organizational culture and values, EU regulation, digitalization as well as communicational gaps and power relations among organizational levels affecting the success of the change process. Unique continuation results for certain generalized ray transforms of symmetric tensor fields

Let $I_{m}$ denote the Euclidean ray transform acting on compactly supported symmetric $m$-tensor field distributions $f$, and $I_{m}^{*}$ be its formal $L^2$ adjoint. We study a unique continuation result for the normal operator $N_{m}=I_{m}^{*}I_{m}$. More precisely, we show that if $N_{m}$ vanishes to infinite order at a point $x_0$ and if the Saint-Venant operator $W$ acting on $f$ vanishes on an open set containing $x_0$, then $f$ is a potential tensor field. Multi-parameter analysis of the obstacle scattering problem

Abstract We consider the acoustic field scattered by a bounded impenetrable obstacle and we study its dependence upon a certain set of parameters. As usual, the problem is modeled by an exterior Dirichlet problem for the Helmholtz equation Δu + k 2 u = 0. We show that the solution u and its far field pattern u ∞ depend real analytically on the shape of the obstacle, the wave number k, and the Dirichlet datum. We also prove a similar result for the corresponding Dirichlet-to-Neumann map.

Reliable memory acquisition is essential to forensic analysis of a cyber-crime. Various methods of memory acquisition have been proposed, ranging from tools based on a dedicated hardware to software only solutions. Recently, a hypervisor-based method for memory acquisition was proposed (Qi et al., 2017; Martignoni et al., 2010). This method obtains a reliable (atomic) memory image of a running system. The method achieves this by making all memory pages non-writable until they are copied to the memory image, thus preventing uncontrolled modification of these pages. Maģistra darba tēma “Starpdisciplinārās komandas sadarbības modelis bērnu psihoneiroloģiskajā slimnīcā”. Tēmas aktualitāte saistās ar identificēto problēmu, ka stacionāros ārstēšanas procesā nav iesaistīta starpdisciplinārā komanda. Pētījuma mērķis izvērtēt starpdisciplinārās komandas sadarbības modeļa efektivitāti bērnu psihoneiroloģiskajā slimnīcā. Izvirzīti pētījuma jautājumi: kā starpdisciplinārās komandas dalībnieki vērtē savstarpējo sadarbību komandā un kā veicināt sadarbības modeļa efektivitāti. Pētījumā izmantota kvalitatīvā pētniecības metode, pētījuma instrumenti - daļēji strukturēta intervija un fokusgrupas intervija. Pētījumā piedalījās 18 starpdisciplinārās komandas dalībnieki.…
