Recruitment, knowledge integration and modes of innovation
2015
Abstract This paper investigates how the strength and intrinsic characteristics of firms’ knowledge bases and processing routines have evolved with the past inflow of employees. The empirical analysis is based on linked public register and innovation survey data for Norway. It finds that recruitment from universities, research institutes and higher education institutions has increased the capacity of firms to generate technical inventions. Yet, the organizational knowledge bases and processing routines on which commercial innovation output depends have been strengthened only by the recruitment that has occurred from related industries. Implications for research, management and policy are dr…
Monitoring Coastal Lagoon Water Quality Through Remote Sensing: The Mar Menor as a Case Study
2019
The Mar Menor is a hypersaline coastal lagoon located in the southeast of Spain. This fragile ecosystem is suffering several human pressures, such as nutrient and sediment inputs from agriculture and other activities and decreases in salinity. Therefore, the development of an operational system to monitor its evolution is crucial to know the cause-effect relationships and preserve the natural system. The evolution and variability of the turbidity and chlorophyll-a levels in the Mar Menor water body were studied here through the joint use of remote sensing techniques and in situ data. The research was undertaken using Operational Land Imager (OLI) images on Landsat 8 and two SPOT images, bec…
Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy: what factors are related to the learning curve?
2014
none 7 no PURPOSE: The factors related to the learning curve for laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy have rarely been evaluated. METHODS: A retrospective study of 32 patients who underwent a laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy performed at a high-volume center by a single pancreatic surgeon experienced with laparoscopic surgery was conducted. Pre-, intra- and postoperative data were collected. The primary endpoint was the length of the operation. The secondary endpoints were the conversion and reoperation rates, overall postoperative morbidity and mortality rates, the length of hospital stay and rate of unplanned splenectomy. RESULTS: The length of the operation and the cumulative sum of the …
MuPix and ATLASPix -- Architectures and Results
2020
High Voltage Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (HV-MAPS) are based on a commercial High Voltage CMOS process and collect charge by drift inside a reversely biased diode. HV-MAPS represent a promising technology for future pixel tracking detectors. Two recent developments are presented. The MuPix has a continuous readout and is being developed for the Mu3e experiment whereas the ATLASPix is being developed for LHC applications with a triggered readout. Both variants have a fully monolithic design including state machines, clock circuitries and serial drivers. Several prototypes and design variants were characterised in the lab and in testbeam campaigns to measure efficiencies, noise, time reso…
An affine scaling method using a class of differential barrier functions: primal approach
2020
International audience; In this paper we propose a family of affine scaling interior point algorithms, called galpv4, using a primal approach, based on a large class of differential barrier functions. We show that these algorithms are in fact an extension and generalization of the classical affine scaling algorithm based on the well-known log barrier function. After carrying out a complete convergence analysis, we select some of these algorithms for comparison with the classical affine scaling algorithm, performed with the help of the familiar Netlib test set.
