Nondeterministic Unitary OBDDs

We investigate the width complexity of nondeterministic unitary OBDDs (NUOBDDs). Firstly, we present a generic lower bound on their widths based on the size of strong 1-fooling sets. Then, we present classically “cheap” functions that are “expensive” for NUOBDDs and vice versa by improving the previous gap. We also present a function for which neither classical nor unitary nondeterminism does help. Moreover, based on our results, we present a width hierarchy for NUOBDDs. Lastly, we provide the bounds on the widths of NUOBDDs for the basic Boolean operations negation, union, and intersection.

Abstract The paper deals with the relative robust shortest path problem in a directed arc weighted graph, where arc lengths are specified as intervals containing possible realizations of arc lengths. The complexity status of this problem has been unknown in the literature. We show that the problem is NP -hard.
The computational complexity of the criticality problems in a network with interval activity times

Abstract The paper analyzes the criticality in a network with interval activities duration times. A natural generalization of the criticality notion (for a path, an activity and an event) for the case of network with interval activity duration times is given. The computation complexity of five problems linked to the introduced criticality notion is presented.
Best Proximity Point Results in Non-Archimedean Fuzzy Metric Spaces

We consider the problem of finding a best proximity point which achieves the minimum distance between two nonempty sets in a non-Archimedean fuzzy metric space. First we prove the existence and uniqueness of the best proximity point by using di fferent contractive conditions, then we present some examples to support our best proximity point theorems.
A class of label-correcting methods for the K shortest paths problem

In this paper we deal with the problem of finding the first K shortest paths from a single origin node to all other nodes of a directed graph. In particular, we define the necessary and sufficient conditions for a set of distance label vectors, on the basis of which we propose a class of methods which can be viewed as an extension of the generic label-correcting method for solving the classical single-origin all-destinations shortest path problem. The data structure used is characterized by a set of K lists of candidate nodes, and the proposed methods differ in the strategy used to select the node to be extracted at each iteration. A Logical Characterisation of Linear Time on Nondeterministic Turing Machines

The paper gives a logical characterisation of the class NTIME(n) of problems that can be solved on a nondeterministic Turing machine in linear time. It is shown that a set L of strings is in this class if and only if there is a formula of the form ∃f1..∃fk∃R1..∃Rm∀xφv; that is true exactly for all strings in L. In this formula the fi are unary function symbols, the Ri are unary relation symbols and φv; is a quantifierfree formula. TIGHT BOUNDS FOR THE SPACE COMPLEXITY OF NONREGULAR LANGUAGE RECOGNITION BY REAL-TIME MACHINES

We examine the minimum amount of memory for real-time, as opposed to one-way, computation accepting nonregular languages. We consider deterministic, nondeterministic and alternating machines working within strong, middle and weak space, and processing general or unary inputs. In most cases, we are able to show that the lower bounds for one-way machines remain tight in the real-time case. Memory lower bounds for nonregular acceptance on other devices are also addressed. It is shown that increasing the number of stacks of real-time pushdown automata can result in exponential improvement in the total amount of space usage for nonregular language recognition.
The Rotation χ-Lattice of Ternary Trees

This paper generalizes to k-ary trees the well-known rotation transformation on binary trees. For brevity, only the ternary case is developped. The rotation on ternary trees is characterized using some codings of trees. Although the corresponding poset is not a lattice, we show that it is a χ-lattice in the sense of Leutola–Nieminen. Efficient algorithms are exhibited to compute meets and joins choosen in a particular way.
Upper and lower approximations of general aggregation operators based on fuzzy rough sets

Our paper deals with constructions of upper and lower general aggregation operators which act on fuzzy sets. These constructions are based on fuzzy rough sets and provide two approximations (upper and lower) of the pointwise extension and the t-extension of an ordinary aggregation operator. Considering two lattices of corresponding general aggregation operators we describe two approximate systems with respect to a lattice of fuzzy equivalence relations.
