Representation of Autonomous Automata
2001
An autonomous automaton is a finite automaton with output in which the input alphabet has cardinality one when special reduced. We define the transition from automata to semigroups via a representation successful if given two incomparable automata (neither simulate the other), the semigroups representing the automata are distinct. We show that representation by the transition semigroup is not successful. We then consider a representation of automata by semigroups of partial transformations. We show that in general transition from automata to semigroups by this representation is not successful either. In fact, the only successful transition presented is the transiton to this semigroup of par…
Pseudodifferential operators on manifolds with a Lie structure at infinity
2003
to appear in Anal. Math.; Several examples of non-compact manifolds $M_0$ whose geometry at infinity is described by Lie algebras of vector fields $V \subset \Gamma(TM)$ (on a compactification of $M_0$ to a manifold with corners $M$) were studied by Melrose and his collaborators. In math.DG/0201202 and math.OA/0211305, the geometry of manifolds described by Lie algebras of vector fields -- baptised "manifolds with a Lie structure at infinity" there -- was studied from an axiomatic point of view. In this paper, we define and study the algebra $\Psi_{1,0,\VV}^\infty(M_0)$, which is an algebra of pseudodifferential operators canonically associated to a manifold $M_0$ with the Lie structure at …
Notes on bilinear multipliers on Orlicz spaces
2019
Let $\Phi_1 , \Phi_2 $ and $ \Phi_3$ be Young functions and let $L^{\Phi_1}(\mathbb{R})$, $L^{\Phi_2}(\mathbb{R})$ and $L^{\Phi_3}(\mathbb{R})$ be the corresponding Orlicz spaces. We say that a function $m(\xi,\eta)$ defined on $\mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}$ is a bilinear multiplier of type $(\Phi_1,\Phi_2,\Phi_3)$ if \[ B_m(f,g)(x)=\int_\mathbb{R} \int_\mathbb{R} \hat{f}(\xi) \hat{g}(\eta)m(\xi,\eta)e^{2\pi i (\xi+\eta) x}d\xi d\eta \] defines a bounded bilinear operator from $L^{\Phi_1}(\mathbb{R}) \times L^{\Phi_2}(\mathbb{R})$ to $L^{\Phi_3}(\mathbb{R})$. We denote by $BM_{(\Phi_1,\Phi_2,\Phi_3)}(\mathbb{R})$ the space of all bilinear multipliers of type $(\Phi_1,\Phi_2,\Phi_3)$ and inve…
Weyl symbols and boundedness of Toeplitz operators
2019
International audience; We study Toeplitz operators on the Bargmann space, with Toeplitz symbols that are exponentials of inhomogeneous quadratic polynomials. It is shown that the boundedness of such operators is implied by the boundedness of the corresponding Weyl symbols.
Noncommutative Davis type decompositions and applications
2018
We prove the noncommutative Davis decomposition for the column Hardy space $\H_p^c$ for all $0<p\leq 1$. A new feature of our Davis decomposition is a simultaneous control of $\H_1^c$ and $\H_q^c$ norms for any noncommutative martingale in $\H_1^c \cap \H_q^c$ when $q\geq 2$. As applications, we show that the Burkholder/Rosenthal inequality holds for bounded martingales in a noncommutative symmetric space associated with a function space $E$ that is either an interpolation of the couple $(L_p, L_2)$ for some $1<p<2$ or is an interpolation of the couple $(L_2, L_q)$ for some $2<q<\infty$. We also obtain the corresponding $\Phi$-moment Burkholder/Rosenthal inequality for Orlicz functions that…
Regularity of some method of summation for double sequences
2010
Some generalization of Toeplitz method of summation is introduced for double sequences and condition of regularity of it is obtained.
Unbounded C*-seminorms, biweights and *-representations of partial *-algebras: a review
2006
The notion of (unbounded) C*-seminorms plays a relevant role in the representation theory of *-algebras and partial *-algebras. A rather complete analysis of the case of *-algebras has given rise to a series of interesting concepts like that of semifinite C*-seminorm and spectral C*-seminorm that give information on the properties of *-representations of the given *-algebra A and also on the structure of the *-algebra itself, in particular when A is endowed with a locally convex topology. Some of these results extend to partial *-algebras too. The state of the art on this topic is reviewed in this paper, where the possibility of constructing unbounded C*-seminorms from certain families of p…
New applications of extremely regular function spaces
2017
Let $L$ be an infinite locally compact Hausdorff topological space. We show that extremely regular subspaces of $C_0(L)$ have very strong diameter $2$ properties and, for every real number $\varepsilon$ with $0<\varepsilon<1$, contain an $\varepsilon$-isometric copy of $c_0$. If $L$ does not contain isolated points they even have the Daugavet property, and thus contain an asymptotically isometric copy of $\ell_1$.
The perturbation classes problem for closed operators
2017
We compare the perturbation classes for closed semi-Fredholm and Fredholm operators with dense domain acting between Banach spaces with the corresponding perturbation classes for bounded semi-Fredholm and Fredholm operators. We show that they coincide in some cases, but they are different in general. We describe several relevant examples and point out some open problems.
Decompositions and asymptotic limit for bicontractions
2012
The asymptotic limit of a bicontraction T (that is, a pair of commuting contractions) on a Hilbert space H is used to describe a Nagy–Foias–Langer type decomposition of T. This decomposition is refined in the case when the asymptotic limit of T is an orthogonal projection. The case of a bicontraction T consisting of hyponormal (even quasinormal) contractions is also considered, where we have ST∗=S2T∗.
