Functional Principal Components Analysis with Survey Data

2008

This work aims at performing Functional Principal Components Analysis (FPCA) with Horvitz-Thompson estimators when the observations are curves collected with survey sampling techniques. FPCA relies on estimations of the eigenelements of the covariance operator which can be seen as nonlinear functionals. Adapting to our functional context the linearization technique based on the influence function developed by Deville (1999), we prove that these estimators are asymptotically design unbiased and convergent. Under mild assumptions, asymptotic variances are derived for the FPCA’ estimators and convergent estimators of them are proposed. Our approach is illustrated with a simulation study and we…

An Approach to the Concept of Soft Fuzzy Proximity

2014

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the concept of soft fuzzy proximity. Firstly, we give the definitions of soft fuzzy proximity and Katsaras soft fuzzy proximity, and also we investigate the relations between the soft fuzzy proximity and slightly modified version of Katsaras soft fuzzy proximity. Secondly, we induce a soft fuzzy topology from a given soft fuzzy proximity by using soft fuzzy closure operator. Then, we obtain the initial soft fuzzy proximity from a given family of soft fuzzy proximities. So, we describe products in the category of soft fuzzy proximities. Finally, we show that a family of all soft fuzzy proximities on a given set constitutes a complete lattice.

GPRS Security for Smart Meters

2013

Part 1: Cross-Domain Conference and Workshop on Multidisciplinary Research and Practice for Information Systems (CD-ARES 2013); International audience; Many Smart Grid installations rely on General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) for wireless communication in Advanced Metering Infrastructures (AMI). In this paper we describe security functions available in GPRS, explaining authentication and encryption options, and evaluate how suitable it is for use in a Smart Grid environment. We conclude that suitability of GPRS depends on the chosen authentication and encryption functions, and on selecting a reliable and trustworthy mobile network operator.

Anisotropic Navier Kirchhoff problems with convection and Laplacian dependence

2022

We consider the Navier problem-Delta(2)(k,p)u(x)=f(x,u(x), del u(x), Delta u(x)) in Omega, u vertical bar(partial derivative Omega) =Delta u vertical bar(partial derivative Omega) = 0,driven by the sign-changing (degenerate) Kirchhoff type p(x)-biharmonic operator, and involving a (del u, Delta u)-dependent nonlinearity f. We prove the existence of solutions, in weak sense, defining an appropriate Nemitsky map for the nonlinearity. Then, the Brouwer fixed point theorem assessed for a Galerkin basis of the Banach space W-2,W-p(x)(Omega)boolean AND W-0(1,p(x))(Omega) leads to the existence result. The case of nondegenerate Kirchhoff type p(x)-biharmonic operator is also considered with respec…

Gamma-convergence of Gaussian fractional perimeter

2021

Abstract We prove the Γ-convergence of the renormalised Gaussian fractional s-perimeter to the Gaussian perimeter as s → 1 - {s\to 1^{-}} . Our definition of fractional perimeter comes from that of the fractional powers of Ornstein–Uhlenbeck operator given via Bochner subordination formula. As a typical feature of the Gaussian setting, the constant appearing in front of the Γ-limit does not depend on the dimension.

Introducing ARTMO's Machine-Learning Classification Algorithms Toolbox: Application to Plant-Type Detection in a Semi-Steppe Iranian Landscape.

2022

Accurate plant-type (PT) detection forms an important basis for sustainable land management maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services. In this sense, Sentinel-2 satellite images of the Copernicus program offer spatial, spectral, temporal, and radiometric characteristics with great potential for mapping and monitoring PTs. In addition, the selection of a best-performing algorithm needs to be considered for obtaining PT classification as accurate as possible . To date, no freely downloadable toolbox exists that brings the diversity of the latest supervised machine-learning classification algorithms (MLCAs) together into a single intuitive user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI). Two theorems of N. Wiener for solutions of quasilinear elliptic equations

1985

Relatively little is known about boundary behavior of solutions of quasilinear elliptic partial differential equations as compared to that of harmonic functions. In this paper two results, which in the harmonic case are due to N. Wiener, are generalized to a nonlinear situation. Suppose that G is a bounded domain in R n. We consider functions u: G--~R which are free extremals of the variational integral
