Case: A 44-year-old woman with congenital nystagmus and myopic astigmatism in both eyes who was submitted to phakic intraocular lens (pIOL) implantation. Methods: Full ophthalmologic examination including refractive status, corrected (CDVA) and uncorrected (UCVA) monocular and binocular visual acuities, ocular motility, slit-lamp evaluation, tonometry and fundoscopy before and after implantation of toric pIOLs (Artiflex; Ophtec BV, The Netherlands) in both eyes. Purpose: To study the potential changes in pupil area within low-energy femtosecond-laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). Methods: A retrospective assessment of the pupil size was performed in the eyes undergoing FLACS using the Ziemer LDV Z8. We measured the pupil diameters as part of the images taken preoperatively and at the completion of laser pretreatment (after releasing the suction). Purpose To test the efficacy of dietary omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in a rat model of glaucoma induced by laser photocoagulation. Methods Rats were fed for 3 months with a diet containing either: 1) 17% of omega-3 fatty acids (10% EPA + 7% DHA), 2) 10% of omega-6 fatty acids (as GLA), or 3) a combination of both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids (10% EPA + 7% DHA + 10% GLA), by comparison with a control group of animals fed with a standard diet deprived of EPA, DHA and GLA.
