The participation of national and ethnic minorities in Polish political life after 1989 is one of the achieve-ments of democratic Poland. Tracing the history of minority participation in local and parliamentary elec-tions after 1990 makes it clear that this history is dominated by the German minority. W niniejszym artykule mniejszość niemiecka, a właściwie działalność Towarzystwa Społeczno-Kulturalnego Niemców na Śląsku Opolskim została przedstawiona jako modelowa. Organizacja, choć partią polityczną nie jest, działa jak organizacja tego typu. Od początku jej działalności, wraz ze zmieniającymi się warunkami, jej rola ulegała przeobrażeniom. Globalisation and metropolisation in modern economies induce some locational strategies of knowledge based activities towards cities and deeply increase trade and move of ideas across cities. In that context, we study the way knowledge spillovers have influenced the economic growth of 82 European Metropolises over the 1990-2005 period. We model knowledge spillovers across cities according to three specific interaction patterns depending either on geography or on global advanced services or thought a combination of these patterns. We show that the mixed pattern matters the best for economic growth of cities in Europe.

This article describes the result of ten or so fairly limited preventive archaeology operations (surveillance of works, diagnostics not followed up with excavations) carried out over the last ten years that have nonetheless finalised knowledge of several deposits from Late Antiquity in Autun located intra muros but also outside the walls. The works have enabled us to renew our knowledge of the reduced enclosure and of three Late Antiquity necropolises, to discover the remains of a lime kiln from the end of the 4th century at the centre of a public zone (perhaps the forum), and lastly to point up the difficulties of interpretation of an occupation of two zones from the end of the 4th century…

Die Nekropole von Lailly Au-delà de l’Eau (Departement Yonne) war 1927 entdeckt worden und wurde1934, 1936 und 1937 und zum letzten Mal 2012 teilweise ausgegraben. Die Untersuchung der in den Depots der Museen von Senswiederentdeckten Grabbeigaben und die systematische Aufarbeitung der Grabungsarchive der Société archéologique de Sens habenes ermöglicht, einen Teil der geschlossenen Fundkontexte zu rekonstruieren und eine Belegungschronologie dieser kleinen Nekropolevorzuschlagen, deren großes wissenschaftliches Potenzial noch in situ erforscht werden muss. Die Studie der Grabsitten hat es zudemerlaubt, die Funde in den regionalen und überregionalen soziokulturellen Kontext zu einzuordnen

Józef Madeja was born on 5 April 1899 in Opole. He attended and completed a primary school and a Realschule in Opole as well as the teachers’ college in Pyskowice, a small town near Gliwice. He began his first professional work as a teacher at a German primary school near Opole in 1919. Following the split of Upper Silesia, Józef Madeja, who declared himself Polish, moved to Katowice in 1921. He worked as a teacher at primary schools situated in the Polish part of Upper Silesia.He studied pedagogy at the Jagiellonian University, where he wrote his doctoral dissertation in the fi eld of psychology.
