Exceeding the resolving imaging power using environmental conditions

We present two approaches that use the environmental conditions in order to exceed the classical Abbe's limit of resolution of an aperture-limited imaging system. At first we use water drops in order to improve the resolving capabilities of an imaging system using a time-multiplexing approach. The limit for the resolution improvement capabilities is equal to the size of the rain drops. The rain drops falling close to the imaged object act as a sparse and random high-resolution mask attached to it. Compact and Field Portable Biophotonic Sensors for Automated Cell Identification (Plenary Address)

In this Plenary address paper, we overview recently published work for automated cell identification using 3D optical imaging in compact and field portable biophotonic sensors. Digital holographic microscopy systems and lensless pseudorandom phase encoding systems capture 3D information of biological cells and make highly accurate automated cell identification possible. Overviewed systems include sickle cell disease diagnosis based on spatio-temporal cell dynamics in a field-portable 3D-printed shearing digital holography as well as lensless cell identification of both single and multicell samples using pseudorandom phase encoding.

Characterisation of two new radiochromic gel dosimeters TruView™ and ClearView™ in combination with the vista™ optical CT scanner: A feasibility study

Synthetic aperture microscopy using off-axis illumination and polarization coding

A new method to improve the resolution of optical imaging systems beyond the classical Rayleigh resolution limit is presented. The technique relies on synthetic aperture generation in three stages. The first one (encoding stage) uses an illumination procedure that combines both on-axis and off-axis illumination beams with different polarization states onto the object. The widespread and cost-effective use of transflection substrates in Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) imaging of clinical samples is affected by the presence of artefacts including the electric field standing wave (EFSW) and contributions from light dispersion. First Retrievals of ASCAT-IB VOD (Vegetation Optical Depth) at Global Scale

Global and long-term vegetation optical depth (VOD) dataset are very useful to monitor the dynamics of the vegetation features, climate and environmental changes. In this study, the radar-based global ASCAT (Advanced SCATterometer) IB (INRAE-BORDEAUX) VOD was retrieved using a model which was recently calibrated over Africa. In order to assess the performance of IB VOD, the Saatchi biomass and three other VOD datasets (ASCAT V16, AMSR2 LPRM V5 and VODCA LPRM V6) derived from C-band observations were used in the comparison. Inhibition of KIF20A by BKS0349 reduces endometriotic lesions in a xenograft mouse model

Evidence has shown that KIF20A overexpression might confer a malignant phenotype to ovarian tumors by promoting proliferation and inhibiting apoptosis.
