Production of Θ+ hypernuclei with the (K+,π+) reaction

2005

Abstract We present results on the production of bound states of Θ + in nuclei using the ( K + , π + ) reaction. By taking into account the states obtained within a wide range of strength of the Θ + nucleus optical potential, plus the possibility to replace different nucleons of the nucleus, we obtain an excitation spectra with clearly differentiated peaks. The magnitude of the calculated cross sections is well within reachable range.

Latest Results for the Antikaon-Nucleon Optical Potential

2010

The key question of this letter is whether the K-nucleus optical potential is deep, as it is prefered by the phenomenological fits to kaonic atoms data, or shallow, as it comes out from unitary chiral model calculations. The current experimental situation is reviewed.

Decay modes of sigma and lambda hypernuclei

1990

Abstract A review is presented of the problem of Σ and Λ decay in nuclei. By means of handy, yet reliable approximations, an approach to Σ decay is developed which allows a clear insight into the different aspects of the problem. The role of nuclear polarization, due to the spin-isospin ΣN → ΛN interaction, in the reduction of the Σ widths is discussed. Many experimentally observable Σ hypernuclei are predicted by showing that their widths are narrower than the separation energies between levels. The mesonic and non-mesonic decays of Λ hypernuclei are analyzed. The non-mesonic width is fairly well reproduced by simplified models for the ΛN → NN weak transition, but quantities like the ratio…

Eta photoproduction from nuclei

2008

Low-energy eta photoproduction from complex nuclei is investigated in a distorted wave impulse approximation (DWIA) framework carried out in momentum spaces. The elementary operator is fixed by the hadronic reactions πN→πN, πN→ππN and π−p→ηn as well as the process γN→πN to constrain the electromagnetic vertex. The resonances S11(1535), P11(1440) and D13(I520) are used to generate s-, p- and d-wave interactions. This coupled channels approach fulfils unitarity and allows the prediction of γp→ηp cross sections. The η final state interaction has been included via a simple optical potential using the ηN t-matrix as an input. We find that coherent eta production is dominated by the D13(1520) iso…

Microscopic Study of Pionic Atoms and Methods of Production

1992

We have constructed a theoretical optical potential for pionic atoms and low energy pions based on the first and second order terms of a many body expansion on the number of ph excitations. The new density dependence of the potential produces notoriously improved results in the problem of the anomalies. On the other hand we have separated the different contributions to the imaginary part of the potential and relate them to the different reaction channels, quasielastic and absorption. The agreement with the data for different channels, energies and nuclei is rather good with some isolated discrepancies. With this potential we have also investigated the deeply bound pionic states in heavy nuc…
