Psychometric Properties of the Brazilian Version of GOHAI among Community-Dwelling Elderly People

2022

This study assessed the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI). A representative sample of 613 community-dwelling elderly people aged from 65 to 74 years was selected. Sociodemographic data, GOHAI and self-perceived oral health measures were collected. Dental clinical measures were obtained through oral examinations. The dimensional structure and adequacy of components were assessed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), inter-item correlations and item–scale correlations. Reliability was evaluated by internal consistency and Intraclass Correlation Coefficients. Correlations between GOHAI scores and self-reported oral …

Objectives: The aim of the study was to cross-culturally adapt the Parental-Caregiver Perceptions Questionnaire (P-CPQ) to the Peruvian Spanish language and assess its reliability and validity. Study Design: To translate and cross-cultural adapt the instrument, 60 parents answered the P-CPQ in two pilot tests. The final version of the P-CPQ was evaluated in 200 parents of children aged 11 to 14 years, who were clini - cally examined for dental caries. The internal consistency was assessed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient while repeat administration of the P-CPQ on the same 200 children facilitated the test-retest reliability via intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The controls (n=64) presented similar characteristics with regard to sex, age, weight and educational level. A single dentist performed an intraoral examination on all the subjects, gathering information on: number of decayed, missing or filled teeth; supragingival plaque accumulation; calculus deposits; periodontal pockets in the Ramfjord teeth; and loss of insertion. Results. No significant differences were…
