Development of an UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS method for simultaneous determination of mycotoxins and isoflavones in soy-based burgers

Abstract Soy-based burgers, an option of meatless hamburger-style, are basically made with soy protein, wholegrains and veggies. However, some ingredients, such as cereals and soybean, are particularly susceptible to fungal contamination. Therefore, a fast and simple procedure for the simultaneous determination of isoflavones (n=12) and mycotoxins (n=21) in soy-based burgers was developed throughout an acetonitrile-based extraction and UHPLC-Q-Exactive Orbitrap HRMS determination for the first time. Involvement of osmotic cell shrinkage on the proton extrusion rate in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been subjected to hyperosmotic shocks by using permeating (sorbitol, xylitol, glycerol, NaCl) and nonpermeating (PEG 600) solutes. The proton extrusion rate decreased as the osmotic pressure increased, whichever solute was used. However, the total inhibition of the cellular H+ extrusion depended on the solute used. A total inhibition was observed at about 20 MPa with glycerol, xylitol and sorbitol. With PEG 600, a total inhibition of extracellular acidification was obtained at 8.5 MPa. Citrinin Dietary Exposure Assessment Approach through Human Biomonitoring High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry-Based Data.

Citrinin (CIT) is a scarcely studied mycotoxin within foodstuffs, so the biomonitoring of this toxin and its metabolite dihydrocitrinone (DH-CIT) in biological samples represents the main alternative to estimate the exposure. Hence, this study aimed to evaluate the presence of CIT and DH-CIT in 300 urine samples from Italian individuals in order to assess the exposure. The present work aims to give insight into the effect that metal coordination has on the room-temperature conductance of molecular wires. For that purpose, we have designed a family of rigid, highly conductive ligands functionalized with different terminations (acetylthiols, pyridines, and ethynyl groups), in which the conformational changes induced by metal coordination are negligible. Electron Spin Resonance study of charge trapping in α-ZnMoO4 single crystal scintillator

The origin and properties of electron and hole traps simultaneously appearing in a-ZnMoO4 scintillator after X-ray irradiation at low temperatures (T < 35 K) were studied by Electron Spin Resonance (ESR). ESR spectrum of the electron type trap shows pronounced superhyperfine structure due to the interaction of electron spin with nuclear magnetic moments of 95,97Mo and 67Zn lattice nuclei. Considering the nearly tetragonal symmetry of the center this allows us to identify the electron trap as an electron self-trapped at the (Mo(1)O4) 2 complex. Colon bioaccessibility under in vitro gastrointestinal digestion of a red cabbage extract chemically profiled through UHPLC‐Q‐Orbitrap HRMS

Red cabbage is a native vegetable of the Mediterranean region that represents one of the major sources of anthocyanins. The aim of this research is to evaluate the antioxidant capability and total polyphenol content (TPC) of a red cabbage extract and to compare acquired data with those from the same extract encapsulated in an acid-resistant capsule. Magnetic skyrmions are swirling magnetic spin structures that could be used to build next-generation memory and logic devices. They can be characterized by a topological charge that describes how the spin winds around the core.
