How different policy instruments affect green product innovation : A differentiated perspective
2018
Based on representative firm-level data for the three countries Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, we investigate the effects of energy-related regulations, taxes, voluntary agreements, and subsidies on the creation of green energy products, and analyze through which channels policy affects green product innovation and which factors mediate the observed effects. Policy may affect green product innovation by directly stimulating the supply of green products/services, or more indirectly by stimulating the demand for green products/services. Our data set allows us to distinguish between the two channels, which improves our understanding of the frequently observed positive net effect of policie…
A study on the assessment of the production costs curves in micro-grids
2013
In micro-grids, due to their small scale, there is commonly only one power supplier. A competitive wholesale market hardly exists, so the question about how to consider market issues for small producers within micro-grids arises. On the other hand, the specific features of micro-grids where load and generated power hardly find a balance, require that customers take part to regulation issues, also using demand-response (DR) programs. In this paper, price responsive (PR) policies and their programs are discussed to answer this question. A case study of a micro-grid with one micro-turbine and two photovoltaic (PV) generators is analyzed to assess the overall production cost in order to build a…
Economic Sustainability of Italian Greenhouse Cherry Tomato
2014
Greenhouse tomato cultivation plays an important role in Sicily, being the primary production area in Italy, due to its favorable pedo-climatic conditions that permit extra-seasonal productions. In Sicily, more than half of greenhouse tomato production is derived from the Province of Ragusa on the southeastern coast, where especially cherry tomato typologies are cultivated. Over the last decade, the Ragusa Province has registered a decrease both in terms of greenhouse tomato area and harvested production due to several structural problems that would require restructuring of the tomato supply chain. Thus, since recognition of real costs and profitability of tomato growing is a vital issue, b…
Acting Agentically at Work: Developing a Short Measure of Professional Agency
2021
Although professional agency has become an increasingly crucial issue in work organizations, investigators lack a brief instrument to measure it. This paper introduces a short measure to explore professional agency at work. Our aim was to shorten the original 17-item Professional Agency Measure, while also exploring its usability for cross-validating questionnaire datasets, and investigating the relationship between professional agency and work engagement. Three dimensions of professional agency emerged, with three items per dimension, across the domains of healthcare, real estate services, and information technology (all within Finland). All the dimensions (Influencing at work, Participati…
TIME MANAGEMENT: THE BASIC CONCERN IN THE ORGANIZATION
2021
The concept of time management defines a set of principles, practices, skills, tools and systems that together help a person in an organization to assess what is left at their disposal in order to improve their quality of life. The most important aspect that should be mentioned is that time management does not require a person to learn to do as many things as possible in a short period of time, but it rather ensures that the person does what needs to be done, dealing with the things that really need to be addressed. The ability to manage your time effectively is important. Good time management leads to improved efficiency and productivity, less stress, and more success in life.
Product market regulation, innovation and productivity
2014
Several recent policy and academic contributions consider that liberalising product markets would foster innovation and growth. This paper analyses the innovation-productivity relationship at the industry-level for a sample of OECD manufacturing industries. We pay particular attention to the vertically-induced influence of product market regulation (PMR) of key input sectors of the economy on the innovative process of manufacturing and its consequences on productivity. We test for a differentiated effect of this type of PMR depending on whether countries are technological leaders or laggards in a given industry and for a given time period. Contrary to the most widespread policy claims, the …
THE INFLUENCE OF THE EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT ON ORGANIZATIONS
2016
The dynamics and complexity of external environment causes changes in organizations’ overall activity. These can lead to disruptions in their work, with multiple implications, both internally and within the areas in which they act. Since the elements that are related to organizations ‘external environment do not evolve simultaneously in the same direction and with the same intensity, the effects triggered on these entities are different. The influences between organizations and their external environment are reciprocal: the former influence the environment through their products, services, whereas their outer environment influence organizations. Consequently, to increase the efficiency and …
BUILDING THE PROJECT TEAM AND PROJECT ORGANIZATION – CHALLENGES AND OBSTACLES
2011
The building of a project team can be one of the first hurdles the future team manager faces. The blame for this can be constraints in terms of resources to fund salaries, lack of adequate or properly trained personnel, unavailability of specialists the manager needs within the project in the period this is scheduled, but also other causes. The building of a project team process must also correlated with its future structure, the two components influencing each other in both directions. Choosing an appropriate structure for the project to be implemented is not only necessary, but, moreover, may prove fatal to the extent that is not obtained.
An Analysis of the Flow-Based Fast Handover Method For Mobile IPv6 Network
2006
Mobile IPv6 has been proposed by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) to be the solution to mobility management in IPv6 network. The work is now culminating to a standard status. But, one problem still remaining is the length of the handover time, which might cause packet loss. Thus the handover time should be as short as possible. Especially the real-time traffic suffers from packet loss. Earlier we have introduced a new method for faster handover process in Mobile IPv6 network called the Flow-based Fast Handover Method for Mobile IPv6 (FFHMIPv6). FFHMIPv6 uses the flow state information stored in the routers for the fast redirection of the flow. In this paper we compare the proposed…
