Liposomes modified by mono- and bis-phthalocyanines: A comprehensive EPR study.

The impact of selected metallophthalocyanines, featuring diverse molecular structure, upon the fluidity of liposome membranes was studied using the spin label EPR technique. The “mono”-type MPc’s (M = Zn, Sn; Pc = C32H16N8 is the phthalocyanine ligand) and sandwich LnPc2 complexes (Ln = Nd, Sm, Gd) were explored. Liposomes were obtained in a sonication process, from egg yolk lecithin (EYL) in water. TEMPO and 16-DOXYL spin labels were used to monitor the peripheral and central part of the lipid double layer, respectively, which allowed to localize the phthalocyanine additive within the bilayer, as well as to perform independent measurements of changes in fluidity upon addition thereof. Abstract We report new results of small-angle neutron scattering from cyclohexane- d 12 /lecithin/water micellar solutions, performed as a function of the water content, w 0 , the temperature, T and the dispersed-phase volume fraction, ф. The data from dilute samples can be interpreted in terms of the existence of giant cylindrical reverse micelles, in good agreement with the current idea of an unlimited micellar growth with ф. Combined use of modified atmosphere packaging and high pressure to extend the shelf-life of raw poultry sausage

International audience; The contribution of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) in extending the shelf-life of high-pressure treated raw poultry sausages was examined by considering microbial and oxidative stability (TBARs) aspects. Raw poultry sausages packaged under air or modified atmosphere (50% CO2–50% N2) were pressurized at 500 MPa during 5 min at a maximum temperature of 10.5 °C, subsequently allowed to refrigerated storage during 22 days. SummaryThis paper reports on protocols for in vitro plant regeneration, gene transfer and on shoot salt tolerance from two accessions of L. cheesmanii (Riley). Shoot organogenesis was achieved on media with zeatin or BA/IAA combinations. The two accessions tested, LA1401 and LA530, showed differences in both their aptitude to regenerate and their salt tolerance in vitro. The accession LA530 had a higher organogenic potential than LA1401 (97% vs. 80% of organogenic explants). Correlated response of in vitro regeneration capacity from different source of explants inCucumis melo.

The variation among and within different populations of the regeneration ability from leaf, cotyledon and hypocotyl explants has been studied. A control population and two lines selected by their regeneration capacity from leaf explants were used. Significant differences among the plants of the control population,for the organogenic response, were detected. The regeneration capacity varies depending on the type of explant. Selection in order to improve the regeneration frequency from leaf explants also raises the organogenic response in the other explant types. Gelation and gel properties of two- and three-component pyrene based low molecular weight organogelators

The research described in this thesis covers the synthesis, characterization and the study of the gelation ability of fteen pyrene based low molecular weight organogelators (LMOGs). The gelation and gel properties were investigated by rheometry, scanning electron microscopy, di erential scanning calorimetry, UV-Vis and uorescence spectroscopy. Diorganotin(IV) complexes ofD-galacturonic acid: solid-state and solution-phase structural study

Three diorganotin(IV) complexes of D-galacturonic acid (H2GalA; R = Me, n-Bu, Ph), two of which are new derivatives (R = Me, Ph), have been synthesized and their solid-state and solution-phase investigated by IR, Mossbauer, 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR spectroscopy. The FTIR data suggest that H2GalA, in the dialkyltin derivatives, behaves as a dianionic ligand, coordinating the tin(IV) atom through an ester-type carboxylate and deprotonated alcoholic hydroxo groups, whereas a bridging carboxylate occurs in the diphenyltin(IV) complex.
