A new hybrid method to improve the ultra-short-term prediction of LOD

Accurate, short-term predictions of Earth orientation parameters (EOP) are needed for many real-time applications including precise tracking and navigation of interplanetary spacecraft, climate forecasting, and disaster prevention. Out of the EOP, the LOD (length of day), which represents the changes in the Earth’s rotation rate, is the most challenging to predict since it is largely affected by the torques associated with changes in atmospheric circulation. L'orientation scolaire et professionnelle, l'orientation des adultes et la formation au long de la vie peuvent être approchées selon des points de vue disciplinaires différents. Dans le cadre de cette préface nous limiterons notre approche aux dimensions sociopolitiques, locales et internationales, pédagogiques, économiques et psychologiques de l'orientation. Ces approches permettent de proposer une compréhension de la démarche scientifique anthropologique de Francis Danvers.
Activity-Centered Design: An Appropriation Issue

When designing workplace computer systems one must take human activity into account. It has become standard practice to approach this issue through user-centered design. The aim of this paper is to stimulate thought on activity-centered design and to propose the concept of appropriation as a fundamental principle of this design approach. This orientation aims to take into consideration the constituent function of tools during conception. We will take the design of computer systems dedicated to customer relations as an example.
Location and orientation technologies based on Wi-Fi systems for people with disabilities in indoor environment

In this chapter we review the developments made in the technology of location and positioning inside buildings and pilot tests that have been carried. First, as a general framework we will begin by reviewing the key elements that influence in technological development (the activity, the operator, the environment, and the technology). In the next section, we describe the most important advances and development carried out on people with different disabilities. Finally, in the concluding section we try to draw the lines that we believe should continue future development.
Dipolar and orientational glass formation in two-dimensional films of CO mixtures

Heat-capacity and dielectric measurements have been performed to study orientational and dipolar order and disorder phenomena in submonolayer films of CO and binary mixtures of CO physisorbed on graphite and boron nitride (BN). With both methods transitions to quadrupolar and dipolar ordered low-temperature phases have been found for pure CO. Calorimetric measurements revealed that the dipolar transition of CO on graphite belongs to the universality class of the two-dimensional (2D) Ising model. It will be shown that in dilute mixtures of CO with CH 4 molecules a dramatic suppression of this phase transition occurs. This effect turned out to be much stronger than that previously observed in…
