In autoimmune hepatitis, strong TGF-beta1 expression is found in the inflamed liver. TGF-beta overexpression may be part of a regulatory immune response attempting to suppress autoreactive T cells. Summary Mitochondria are key players in the regulation of T cell biology by dynamically responding to cell needs, but how these dynamics integrate in T cells is still poorly understood. We show here that the mitochondrial pro-fission protein Drp1 fosters migration and expansion of developing thymocytes both in vitro and in vivo. In addition, we find that Drp1 sustains in vitro clonal expansion and cMyc-dependent metabolic reprogramming upon activation, also regulating effector T cell numbers in vivo. The most frequent disorder of glycosylation is due to mutations in the gene encoding phosphomannomutase2 (PMM2-CDG). For this disease, which is autosomal and recessive, there is no cure at present. An increasing data set exists on the nature and thickness of the Iceland crust. This paper relates topography, i.e., elevation and bathymetry (TOP), Bouguer gravity anomalies (BA) and Moho depths to each other to assess the consequences of the “thick crust model” for Iceland in the context of the North Atlantic. Results of regression of TOP and BA vs. Moho depth are converted into “Airy densities” Δρ* (mantle crust density contrasts in the case of ideal Airy isostasy). For Iceland, Δρ* is very low (105±10 kg/m3); for the adjacent continental margins and relicts, it is high and intermediate for the Jan Mayen Ridge. The effect of acetate as a glucose co-substrate on growth, lysine synthesis and experimental lysine yield from carbon substrates by Corynebacterium glutamicum RC 115 was investigated. It was found that low amounts of acetate, injected with a glucose-acetate pulse into the steady-state continuous culture in bioreactor, caused a slight decrease in the specific rates of glucose uptake and bacterial growth, but a significant increase in the cell specific rate of lysine synthesis and an increase in lysine yield.
