Giovanni Filippo Ingrassia: A five-hundred year-long lesson.

Giovanni Filippo Ingrassia was born five centuries ago in Regalbuto, a small town in the center of Sicily. After his medical course in Padua, under the guidance of Vesalius and Fallopius, he gained international fame as a physician and was recruited as a Professor of human anatomy in Naples and later in Palermo. He is remembered as "the new Galen" or "the Sicilian Hippocrates." He contributed to the knowledge of human anatomy through the description of single bones rather than the whole skeleton. Dinosauroid footprints of French Upper Triassic. Discrimination, interpretation and comparison

Abstract Dinosauroid tracks are common in France. They are mainly tridactyl II–IV feet tracks, sometimes with those of hands. A lot of these latter Coelurosaurichnus grancieri Courel & Demathieu, 2000 was discovered by MG near the village of Payzac (Ardèche department) in beds belonging to the “Ensemble gréso-dolomitique gris” (= EGDG) (fig. 1. 2). They are dated Carnian from palynological data [Fauconnier et al., 1996]. C. grancieri are tracks of feet and hands respectively 10 cm and 2.5 cm long (fig. 1. 3–5, 7–21; tabl. I-1, tabl. II). A special body: Exposure ritual of a Bronze Age seated cadaver from the cemetery of Humanejos (Parla, Madrid, Spain)

Abstract Seated positions are extraordinarily exceptional in prehistoric graves and despite the increasing number of new cases its social meaning remains uncertain. This paper presents a new finding of a Bronze Age seated burial discovered in the prehistoric cemetery of Humanejos (Parla). Such a unique burial is carefully analyzed in the context of the IInd millennium cal BC burial rituals. Osteology and relationships ofEolacerta robusta, a lizard from the Middle Eocene of Germany (Reptilia, Squamata)

The osteology of the Eocene lizard Eolacerta robusta from Messel and Geiseltal is redescribed. Contrary to former opinions, Eolacerta does not possess body osteoderms, the pubis is typically lizard-like, the astragalus and calcaneum are fused, and the first cervical rib is distinctly curved posterolaterally. The suggestion that Eolacerta belongs to the modern family Lacertidae cannot be corroborated due to its many plesiomorphies and character incongruences, a view which is also supported by phylogenetic analysis. At present, Eolacerta cannot be assigned to any modern lizard family and is classified as Scleroglossa incertae sedis.

Skull osteology ofParvilacerta parva, a small-sized lacertid lizard from Asia Minor

The skull of the poorly known Asia Minor lacertid lizard Parvilacerta parva is described. In comparison to other palaearctic lacertids, Parvilacerta parva displays several peculiar traits such as a large braincase, a short parietal table, closed post-temporal openings, reduced ossification, or a large lacrimal. Many features are related to the small size of Parvilacerta parva and are of apparently heterochronic nature, as they can also be found in certain ontogenetic stages of other lacertid species. Archeology, by being a science, has its own research problems. It tries to analyze them using an appropriate methodology. Archeology deals with discovering the human past, likewise the environment, where people live, work and die. A reappraisal of the purported gastric pellet with Pterosaurian bones from the Upper Triassic of Italy

A small accumulation of bones from the Norian (Upper Triassic) of the Seazza Brook Valley (Carnic Prealps, Northern Italy) was originally (1989) identified as a gastric pellet made of pterosaur skeletal elements. The specimen has been reported in literature as one of the very few cases of gastric ejecta containing pterosaur bones since then. However, the detailed analysis of the bones preserved in the pellet, their study by X-ray microCT, and the comparison with those of basal pterosaurs do not support a referral to the Pterosauria.
