Battle of Kosovo field in 1389 – legendary battle of Balkan Middle Ages

The main goal of this paper is the examine the circumstances of the Kosovo battle in 1389. Fundamental difficulty in describing this battle results from the fact that there was no separate chronicler. Moreover, the description of the battle of Kosovo field is based only on fragmentary information transmitted by Serbian, Bosnian, Turkish or Byzantine chroniclers. The author of this article proposed a thesis that battle of Kosovo field contributed to development of both Ottoman and Serbian art of warfare. It enabled improvement of army of Padishah, which would continue policy of conquest of the Balkans in subsequent years. What is more, this battle, which had actually no winner, paradoxically…
