Conflicts over the provision and payment of wages of the "pavordías" of the University of Valencia during the second half of the seventeenth century

2002

This article analyzes the cau…

El presupuesto de la Universidad de Valencia (1598-1611)

1992

EL ANALISIS DEL PRESUPUESTO EN LOS PRIMEROS AÑOS DEL REINADO DE FELIPE III PRESENTA EL ASPECTO FINANCIERO DE LA UNIVERSIDAD QUE PERDURARA HASTA EL SIGLO XVIII, ES DECIR, DOTACION MUNICIPAL Y DE FONDOS DE PAVORDIA. LA PRIMERA SE MOSTRARA, POR LO GENERAL, ESCASA, Y LOS PROFESORES DEBERAN BUSCAR COMPLEMENTAR SUS INGRESOS. LA RENTA DE PAVORDIA SERA MAS SUSTANCIOSA Y PRIVILEGIARA LAS MATERIAS TEOLOGICAS DE ACUERDO CON LOS NUEVOS TIEMPOS DEL BARROCO CUANDO DICHA DISCIPLINA SE CONVIERTE EN COLUMNA VERTEBRAL A LA QUE SE SUBORDINAN LOS DEMAS SABERES CIENTIFICO-TECNICOS. LA DOTACION PRESUPUESTARIA ES, PUES, HASTA CIENTO PUNTO, INDICATIVA DE LA IMPORTANCIA SOCIO-CULTURAL QUE TIENEN LAS DISTINTAS MATER…

The effect of resonance frequency breathing when used as a preparatory exercise in music psychotherapy : A single-case experimental study of a client…

2017

This study aimed at evaluating the possible benefits of starting Integrative Improvisational Music Therapy (IIMT) sessions with 10 min of Resonance Frequency Breathing (RFB), a type of slow breathing known to be beneficial for stress reduction and emotional regulation. A client diagnosed with anxiety disorder and social phobia attended 12 IIMT sessions. Using an alternating treatments design, RFB was systematically alternated with a control intervention (vibroacoustic therapy, VAT). Therapy processes were assessed through the Session Evaluation Questionnaire (SEQ) and the continuous measurement of heart rate variability (HRV), a biomarker of autonomic nervous system response. RFB was consis…

Shedding Light on the Dark Ages: Sketching Potential Trade Relationships in Early Medieval Romania through Mitochondrial DNA Analysis of Sheep Remains

2021

Southeast Europe has played an important role in shaping the genetic diversity of sheep due to its proximity to the Danubian route of transport from the Near East into Europe, as well as its possible role as a post-domestication migration network and long tradition of sheep breeding. The history of Romania and, in particular, the historical province of Dobruja, located on the shore of the Black Sea, has been influenced by its geographical position at the intersection between the great powers of the Near East and mainland Europe, with the Middle Ages being an especially animated time in terms of trade, migration, and conflict. In this study, we analyzed the mitochondrial control region of fi…

Horn growth rate and longevity: implications for natural and artificial selection in thinhorn sheep (Ovis dalli).

2007

We used horn measurements from natural and hunted mortalities of male thinhorn sheep Ovis dalli from Yukon Territory, Canada, to examine the relationship between rapid growth early in life and longevity. We found that rapid growth was associated with reduced longevity for sheep aged 5 years and older for both the hunted and natural mortality data sets. The negative relationship between growth rate and longevity in hunted sheep can at least partially be explained by morphologically biased hunting regulations. The same trend was evident from natural mortalities from populations that were not hunted or underwent very limited hunting, suggesting a naturally imposed mortality cost directly or in…

Per-user availability for ultra-reliable communication in 5G: Concept and analysis

2018

Emerging 5G mobile networks envisage ultra-reliable communication (URC) as one of the major requirements for anytime anywhere communication. Although URC has recently attracted a lot of attention in the research community, existing work seems to rely on approaching reliability merely from a time domain perspective. However, both time and space domain parameters affect reliability and need to be investigated. This paper introduces a dependability theory based definition for per-user availability targeted at 5G networks. The advocated definition promotes both space and time domain components for URC provisioning. Furthermore, we perform reliability and availability analysis and simulations co…

Hybris e rivoluzione. Il caso della rivolta cilena

2023

This paper discusses the binomial hybris and revolution. In particular, the question of whether the excessive dominants’ arrogance, who have too much both in material and symbolic terms, is sufficient to explain the deflagration of an insurgency and the interruption of a legal order. The question will be addressed by interweaving the reflections of authors who have discussed this topic with a material collected by the author through a legal-political ethnography conducted in Chile during the revolt that broke out in October 2019 and led to a new constituent phase. Categories and definitions used in this text are partly borrowed from the course devoted to political change and revolution taug…

Comparison of the strain field of abdominal aortic aneurysm measured by magnetic resonance imaging and stereovision: a feasibility study for predicti…

2015

International audience; The prediction of the risk of rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a complex problem. Currently the criteria to predict rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysms are aneurysm diameter and growth rates. It is generally believed that study of the wall strain distribution could be helpful to find a better decision criterion for surgery of aortic aneurysms before their rupture. The wall strain distribution depends on many biological and biomechanical factors such as elastic properties of the aorta, turbulent blood flow, anatomy of the aorta, presence of thrombus or not and so on. Recently, numerical simulations to estimate rupture-potential have received many attent…
