Paleoclimatic control of biogeographic and sedimentary events in Tethyan and peri-Tethyan areas during the Oxfordian (Late Jurassic)

2005

International audience; The paleobiogeographical distribution of Oxfordian ammonites and coral reefs in northern and Central Europe, the Mediterranean area, North and East Africa, and the Middle East and Central Asia is compared with the distribution in time and space of the most important lithofacies. Interest in the Oxfordian is focused on changes in facies and in biogeographical patterns that can be interpreted as the results of climatic events. Paleotemperature trends inferred from oxygen isotopes and paleoclimatic simulations are tested against fossil and facies data. A Late Callovian–Early Oxfordian crisis in carbonate production is indicated by the widespread absence of Lower Oxfordi…

On the lower bound on the exchange-correlation energy in two dimensions

2010

We study the properties of the lower bound on the exchange-correlation energy in two dimensions. First we review the derivation of the bound and show how it can be written in a simple density-functional form. This form allows an explicit determination of the prefactor of the bound and testing its tightness. Next we focus on finite two-dimensional systems and examine how their distance from the bound depends on the system geometry. The results for the high-density limit suggest that a finite system that comes as close as possible to the ultimate bound on the exchange-correlation energy has circular geometry and a weak confining potential with a negative curvature. Middle and Upper Jurassic record in the Western Sicily successions

2015

Middle-Upper Jurassic successions cropping out in western Sicily have been the subject of detailed sedimentological, stratigraphic and palaeontological studies over the last 15 years based on the analysis of ammonite associations. Studies are preferentially focused on the Bathonian-Tithonian chronostratigraphic interval. Some studied successions represent the type-locality of many ammonite species defined by G.G. Gemmellaro, while others have been known only in Sicilian geological literature. The examined sequences were sedimented in different depositional environments (moderately deep external carbonate platform) called Domains, more precisely, the Trapanese and Saccense Domains (TP, Trapa…

Kontemplativ, handlingsrettet spiritualitet - Stille stund og ledelse i Oxfordbevegelsen belyst ved nedtegnelser fra Erling Wikborg

2014

Author's version of an article in the journal: Teologisk tidsskrift. Also available from the publisher at: http://www.idunn.no/tt/2014/04/kontemplativ_handlingsrettet_spiritualitet_-_stille_stund_ Contemplation and belief in guidance from God had a distinct design in the international ecumenical revival the Oxford Group which gained great support in the interwar period. In this movement, contemplation, called quiet time, was focused on intention and action in order to grasp and carry out God’s guidance. The article examines teaching about and practice of quiet time and guidance in the Oxford Group and shows how these phenomena relate to a broader historical context within Christianity. Note…

2016

The laparoscopic approach to Acute Mesenteric Ischemia is today unclear and less debated (AMI). There are in fact no clinical evidences on this particular focus and only few articles can be found in several databases (pubmed, cochrane library, etc.), and the problem concerns both diagnostic and therapeutic utilization of the procedure. These considerations were already taken into account in 2012 EAES guidelines where the Grade of Recommendation (GoR) of laparoscopy in AMI was low in both diagnostic and therapeutic aspects. According to the new Oxford Classification [1], the use of laparoscopy in patients with suspicious or diagnosed AMI presents a weak GoR.
