This paper analyses the main features of the Valencian media coverage of the elections held in Spain in the Spring of 2019 (General, Regional, Municipal, and European elections). We shine a spotlight on the key themes covered by the main newspapers, radio and TV stations, and on the campaign strategies parties used to define ideological blocs on the left and right.
Lluís Ferran de Pol and Concentrationary Literature: From Campo de concentración to Un de tants

This article analyses the different rewritings that Catalan writer Lluis Ferran de Pol (Arenys de Mar, 1911-1995) published of his most important concentrationary memories. Ferran de Pol was interned in French concentration camps during the first months of 1939. As a result of his confinement, he wrote Campo de concentracion, a book written in Spanish and published in the Mexican newspaper El Nacional during his exile in Mexico. Back in Catalonia in the early 1960s, he rewrote these prose pieces into Catalan and published them under the title De lluny i de prop (1973). In 2009 this work saw another edition in Catalan under the title Un de tants, edited by Josep-Vicent Garcia.

Building on research highlighting the complex webs of relations between secularism, culture, and religion, this study investigates how the concept of culture was utilized in discourses of laïcité from the newspaper le Monde. Articles (N = 76) published between 2011 and 2014 were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results revealed the agency associated with the use of culture as it was strategically – rather than systematically – used in opposition to religion. Overall, culture – and the practices it defined – tended to be represented as normal and invisible. Editorials represent a newspaper’s principal means of ideological positioning and serve to identify the attitude of each newspaper and its readership to some of the main actors in any given conflict, especially those that are political in nature. Catalonia’s independence movement has experienced a surge in recent years. The 2019 regional government election in The Valencian Country led to a new panorama on the Right. For the first time, there were three political parties competing for votes. In addition, the notoriety gained by the Far Right created a new political scene, posing a challenge to other parties. Entre 1976 y 1979, cientos de presos políticos en la cárcel de Córdoba fueron sometidos a un régimen de completo aislamiento e inactividad. Se prohibieron estrictamente las cartas, visitas familiares, diarios, revistas, actividades manuales, gimnasia y deportes con el objetivo de destruirlos física y psicológicamente. Para aliviar el tedio los presos elaboraron clandestinamente artesanías, dibujos y bordados con herramientas prohibidas como huesos, clavos, hilos de toalla y tela de jean. This essay and the photographs examine visual traces of irregular mobility in the border landscape between Italy and France. The ruined buildings and objects witness decades of movement of undocumented people on this old migrant path across the mountains. By taking the theoretical concept of multidirectional memory (Rothberg 2009) the essay argues that the Path of Hope can be thought of as a memory site through which the issues of migration in contemporary Europe can be seen in a more sustainable light. Paper surface topology analysis with infrared thermography is described. Heat is applied perpendicular to the target. Temperature distribution of the sheet correlates well with the surface height distribution when the sheet is placed on the isothermic plate. Mathematical tools for data analysis and the mechanisms behind the curl and cockles are briefly discussed. The curl and fluting of paper : The effect of elasto-plasticity

An in-plane elasto-plastic material model and a hygroexpansivity model were applied for paper. The input parameters for both models are fiber orientation and dry solids content. A finite element model was constructed offering possibilities for studying different structural variations of an orthotropic sheet as well as buckling behavior and internal stress situations under through-thickness strain differences. Examples related to the curl and webfluting phenomena of paper are presented. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Efavirenz (EFV) is widely used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection. Though highly efficient, there is growing concern about EFV-related side effects, the molecular basis of which remains elusive. EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH In vitro studies were performed to address the effect of clinically relevant concentrations of EFV (10, 25 and 50 mu M) on human hepatic cells.
