Techno-economic analysis of off-grid hybrid renewable energy system for Sri Lanka
2014
Off grid hybrid renewable energy based power systems for rural electrification has become an attractive solution for areas where grid electricity is not feasible. Hybrid systems use several generation technologies, therefore the selection of proper technologies and optimum sizing of the components has become of great importance in reducing the overall cost and increasing the reliability of the service. The focus of this study has been to investigate the optimum configuration of a hybrid system which can supply electricity to a rural community in Sri Lanka. A rural village from the Siyambalanduwa region in Sri Lanka inhabiting approximately 150 households resulting approximate daily electric…
Study and simulation of photovoltaic installation connected to the grid with storage system
2016
In the present paper, a new approach to the management of energy resources in a research laboratory is proposed and evaluated by a simulation for the PV installation realized for the Tunisian-Italian cooperation project DE.DU.ENER.T, using renewable energy and economic criteria. The aim of this project is to improve energy efficiency order to minimize the electricity cost consumed at the laboratory, because according to the bills of electricity received we noticed that there is a high consumption of electrical current, from the STEG grid, and especially by the energy intensive equipment such as drying ovens and all the workstations. So we targeted to install a photovoltaic field of 12KWc to…
Novel high-performance QCA Fredkin gate and designing scalable QCA binary to gray and vice versa
2022
AbstractIn the design of digital logic circuits, QCA technology is an excellent alternative to CMOS technology. Its advantages over CMOS include low power consumption, fast circuit switching, and nanoscale design. Circuits that convert data between different formats are code converters. Code converters have an essential role in high-performance computing and signal processing. In this paper, first, we proposed a novel QCA structure for the quantum reversible Fredkin gate. Second, we proposed 4-bit and 8-bit QCA binary-to-gray converter and vice versa. For the second proposal, both reversible and irreversible structures are suggested. The proposed structures are scalable up to N bits. To cha…
Time- and parity-violating effects of nuclear Schiff moment in molecules and solids
2020
We show that existing calculations of the interaction between nuclear Schiff moments and electrons in molecules use an inaccurate operator which gives rise to significant errors. By comparing the matrix elements of the accurate and imprecise Schiff moment operators, we calculated the correction factor as a function of the nuclear charge Z and presented corrected results for the T,P-violating interaction of the nuclear spin with the molecular axis in the TlF, RaO, PbO, TlCN, ThO, AcF molecules and in the ferroelectric solid PbTiO$_3$.
QCD sum rule analysis of the pentaquark
2005
We perform a QCD sum rule calculation to determine the mass and the parity of the lowest lying pentaquark state. We include operators up to dimension $d=13$ in the OPE and the direct instanton contributions. We find evidence for a positive parity state. The contribution from operators of dimension $d>5$ is instrumental in determining the parity of the state and achieving the convergence of the sum rule.

Constituent-quark model description of triply heavy-baryon nonperturbative lattice QCD data
2015
This paper provides results for the spectra of triply charmed and bottom baryons based on a constituent quark model approach. We take advantage of the assumption that potential models are expected to describe triply heavy baryons to a similar degree of accuracy as the successful results obtained in the charmonium and bottomonium sectors. The high precision calculation of the ground state and positive and negative parity excited states recently reported by nonperturbative lattice QCD provides us with a unique opportunity to confront model predictions with data. This comparison may also help to build a bridge between two difficult to reconcile lattice QCD results, namely, the lattice SU(3) QC…
Parity violating electron scattering at MAMI
2012
The investigation of the structure of the nucleon can help to understand the non-pertubative regime of the QCD. In the viewpoint of QCD, the nucleon is made up of constituent quarks, sea quarks and gluons. The nucleon structure can be described by the electromagnetic form factors. Parity violating electron scattering offers a tool to investigate the strange quark contribution to the nucleon form factors. Such measurements are carried out at the electron accelerator facility MAMI at Mainz. Recent results are presented here.
ASYMMETRIES IN POLARIZED ELECTRON SCATTERING AND THE STRANGENESS CONTENT OF THE NUCLEON
2009
In the viewpoint of QCD, the nucleon is made up of constituent quarks, sea quarks and gluons. Concerning the quark sea, also strange quarks can contribute to the nucleon properties. Parity violating electron scattering offers a tool to investigate the strange quark contribution to the nucleon form factors. The measurements of different experiments are discussed and the recent results from the A4 collaboration at MAMI is presented. Altogether the existing data allow to give constraints on the strangeness contribution.
Prediction of positive parity Bs mesons and search for the X(5568)
2016
We use a combination of quark-antiquark and $B^{(*)}K$ interpolating fields to predict the mass of two QCD bound states below the $B^*K$ threshold in the quantum channels $J^P=0^+$ and $1^+$. The mesons correspond to the b-quark cousins of the $D_{s0}^*(2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ and have not yet been observed in experiment, even though they are expected to be found by LHCb. In addition to these predictions, we obtain excellent agreement of the remaining p-wave energy levels with the known $B_{s1}(5830)$ and $B_{s2}^*(5840)$ mesons. The results from our first principles calculation are compared to previous model-based estimates. More recently the D0 collaboration claimed the existence of an …
