Student employment in France: Hindrance rather than help for higher educational success?

International audience; In this study, we examine how student employment impacts higher educational trajectories in France. Focussing on undergraduates’ educational outcomes, we show the consequences of different intensities and levels of recurrence of student employment on perseverance in higher education. We use data from a nationally representative four-year longitudinal survey, descriptive analysis and logistic regression are performed to control for student characteristics. Our results suggest that student employment, especially when intensive and during periods of exams, increases exam failure. Con la sentenza Cass. Sez. IV pen., 24 giugno 2022, n. 24388, la Suprema Corte svolge importanti precisazioni con rifermento alla natura della fattispecie di intermediazione illecita e sfruttamento del lavoro, fornisce anche un contributo utile alla messa a fuoco delle possibili forme di realizzazione del reato di cui all’art. 603-bis c.p., ritenendo configurabile il reato anche a fronte di ipotesi di part-time fittizio. Tuttavia, la Cassazione, definendo lo stato di bisogno come la necessità stessa di mantenere l'occupazione, fornisce anche l'occasione per una riflessione sulle criticità di un approccio panpenalistico allo sfruttamento lavorativo.
The role of part-time special education supporting students with reading and spelling difficulties from grade 1 to grade 2 in Finland

Previous studies show that many students with reading and spelling problems have a lack of progress in reading and spelling skills after years of special education services. The aim of the study is to evaluate the reading and spelling skills of Finnish children in grades 1 and 2 receiving part-time special education from special education teachers for reading and spelling difficulties (RSD) and for RSD with other learning difficulties. In this study, the focus is in the roles of the form and the amount of part-time special education in reading and spelling skills development.
