2016

W XIX stuleciu, „wieku przedmiotów”, kolekcjonowanie ludzkich szczątków, stanowiące przejaw chęci poznania tajemnic człowieka, nic należy do rzadkości. W okresie romantyzmu stanowią one jeden z ważnych elementów cudowności, skupiając na sobie narrację i prowokując kolejne niezwykłe wydarzenia (Stopa mumii Theophile’a Gautiera). W ujęciu pozytywistyczno-naturalistycznym wprowadzają element niezwykłości do scjentystyczncgo dyskursu o święcie (Ręka Guy de Maupassanta). Z kolei w tekstach późniejszych, w kontekście okultyzmu i surrealistycznej fantastyki, świadczą…

Ranskan kielen morfologinen passiivi on edelleen jaettu muotojen perusteella kahteen alaluokkaan: 1) finiittimuodot (apuverbi être + partisiipin perfekti), sekä 2) infiniittimuodot (partisiipin perfekti + agentti).

Monovalent cation conductance in Xenopus laevis oocytes expressing hCAT-3

2005

hCAT-3 (human cationic amino acid transporter type three) was investigated with both the two-electrode voltage clamp method and tracer experiments. Oocytes expressing hCAT-3 displayed less negative membrane potentials and larger voltage-dependent currents than native or water-injected oocytes did. Ion substitution experiments in hCAT-3-expressing oocytes revealed a large conductance for Na + and K + . In the presence of l-Arg, voltage-dependent inward and outward currents were observed. At symmetrical (inside/outside) concentrations of l-Arg, the conductance of the transporter increased monoexponentially with the l-Arg concentrations; the calculated Vmax and KM values amounted to 8.3 AS and…

2011

The paper focuses on Du Bos’ contribution to the birth of aesthetics. Du Bos elaborates – in an anticlassicistical tone – three central notions: 1) that of “artificial passion”, 2) of the taste of “the public” (which is in turn linked to a peculiar conception of “feeling”) and 3) of “artistic genius”. The main tenet will be that such an approach does lead to a “philosophy of fine arts” (or of “artistic beauty”), i.e. the discipline with which modern aesthetics ends up identifying at the end of the xviii century. Hence the theoretical, and not just historical, interest for this author, especially when having an eye to neoaesthetics, viz. aesthetics as begotten by the crisis of the modern aes…

EOF-Library: Open-source Elmer FEM and OpenFOAM coupler for electromagnetics and fluid dynamics

2019

EOF-Library is a software that couples Elmer and OpenFOAM simulation packages. It enables efficient internal field interpolation and communication between the finite element and the finite volume frameworks. The coupling of the two packages is based on the Message Passing Interface, which results in low latency, high data bandwidth and parallel scalability. Potential applications are magnetohydrodynamics, convective cooling of electrical devices, industrial plasma physics and microwave heating. In this work we introduce the software and perform interpolation accuracy and parallel scaling tests by sending a known scalar distribution between the two codes. Keywords: Elmer, FEM, OpenFOAM, FVM,…
