The need to reduce energy consumption is pushing the building design research to the evaluation of passive conditioning systems, since urban buildings are one of the major energy dissipater resulting in emission of CO2. This approach is not modern, but it is historically rooted in the architectural culture of the Mediterranean area and in the Middle East. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt partnerattiecību kvalitāti, līdzjūtību pret sevi un pašcieņu, un veikt empīrisko pētījumu to sakarību pārbaudei. Pētījumā piedalījās 131 respondents, vecumā no 19 līdz 35 gadiem. Pētījumā tika izmantotas sekojošās metodes: pašcieņas mērīšanai: Rozenberga pašcieņas skala (Rosenberg self-esteem scale, (Rosenberg, 1965)), Latvijā adaptējusi Anika Miltuze, 1996.gadā; Partnerattiecību kvalitātes mērīšanai: Uztvertās attiecību kvalitātes komponentu aptauja (Perceived Relationship Quality Components, PRQC, (Fletcher, Simpson & Thomas, 2000)). Pro Gradu -työssäni tutkin tarinan ja henkilöhahmon muodostumista PC -pelissä, erityisesti sitä, miten tarina ja henkilöhahmo siirtyvät toisesta julkaisumuodosta, romaanistaja elokuvasta, pelin muotoon. Käsittelen myös tarinan eroja representaatiossa ja simulaatiossa, tässä tapauksessa pelissä. Shifts in the visual coverage of refugees arriving in Europe and prominent compassion fatigue emphasize the need to examine visual strategies utilized to report on the crisis. This study focuses on representations of refugee children using a case of the World Press Photo (WPP) 2016. The material was interpreted with a model for visual rhetorical interpretation of journalistic photographs. Findings indicate the main visual elements involved in representing refugee children: visual trope of the migrant father, relation between children and barriers, visual oxymoron (juxtaposition of contradictory elements) and atmosphere in photographs. Fracture and fatigue of titanium narrow dental implants: New trends in order to improve the mechanical response

Sixty-four fractured commercially pure titanium (cp-Ti) narrow dental implants (NDIs) with similar macrogeometry and connection designs were studied after different implantation times in humans in order to determine their reliability and to evaluate the causes of the fracture. These NDIs were compared with other similar implants, made with alloyed titanium with 15% Zr and with 12% strained titanium. Original implants were tested under static and fatigue conditions, simulating the tri-axial loads in the mouth by means of a Bionix hydraulic test machine. PQ Bypass ir jauna un inovatīva metode pilnībā endovaskulārai femoropopliteālai šuntēšanai. Patlaban pasaulē ir pētījumi par PQ Bypass metodes, kur aprakstīta tās rezultāti arteriālajai sistēmai, bet nav atrodami pētījumi par PQ Bypass metodes ietekmi uz venozo sistēmu. Pētījuma mērķis ir izvērtēt PQ Bypass metodes ilgtermiņa ietekmi uz apakšējo ekstremitāšu venozo sistēmu. Materiāli un metodes: Prospektīvais pētījums tika veikts PSKUS Asinsvadu ķirurģijas centrā. A dehydration experiment was carried out on Vitis vinifera L. cv Muscat of Alexandria (synonym Zibibbo) following the process for the production of renowned special dessert wines produced on Pantelleria island (Sicily, Italy). Harvested berries were pre-treated in a sodium hydroxide dipping solution (45 g/L, dipped for 185 s, 25 °
