Over the last 5 years, therapies for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection have improved significantly, achieving sustained virologic response (SVR) rates of up to 100% in clinical trials in patients with HCV genotype 1. We investigated the effectiveness and safety of ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir +/- dasabuvir in an early access programme. This was a retrospective, multicentre, national study that included 291 treatment-naive and treatment-experienced patients with genotype 1 or 4 HCV infection. The analysis of effects of competitive situations in our species may contribute to acquiring deeper knowledge about the effects of social stress and its relationship with different pathologies. The latest studies indicate that the neuroendocrine response to competition depends more on subjective factors related to the cognitive evaluation of the situation than on the outcome itself. Findings suggest that when subjects cope with a competition, they assess it in such a way that it activates a psychobiological coping response. We studied the primary brood sex ratio of an old-growth forest passerine, the Eurasian treecreeper (Certhia familiaris), along a gradient of forest fragmentation. We found evidence that male nestlings were more costly to produce, since they suffered twofold higher nestling mortality and were larger in body size than females. Furthermore, the proportion of males in the brood was positively associated with the provisioning rate and the amount of food delivered to the nestlings. During the first broods, a high edge density and a high proportion of pine forests around the nests were related to a decreased production of males. Traditionally, the colon is considered a secondary intestinal segment in the drug absorption process. However, in many cases the role of colonic drug permeability cannot be overlooked. The purpose of this research was to compare colon permeability data obtained using two different rat perfusion methods the single-pass intestinal perfusion (SPIP) approach and the closed-loop (Doluisio) perfusion model. A list of 14 structurally diverse model drugs was constructed, and their rat colon permeability was studied using the two methods.
