The introduction of the triptans brought advances in achieving complete and sustained pain resolution in migraine patients, compared with non-migraine-specific treatments. However, sustained pain-free rates for triptans recorded in many clinical trials are still relatively low. This may be due to study participants being treated late into the attack, when pain is already moderate or severe. Studies with almotriptan have shown that efficacy is enhanced when treatment is given early in a migraine attack while pain is still mild, compared with later administration when pain intensity is greater. An innervated retroauricular skin flap for total earlobule reconstruction.

In this article, the authors describe a technique for total earlobule reconstruction in a patient who underwent earlobule excision for basal cell carcinoma. The reconstruction was by means of an innervated retroauricular skin flap, folded double. The flap presented preserved skin sensitivity over all the reconstructed area, which is compromised by those techniques using a cranially or medially based flap which lead to the reconstruction of an insensible earlobule. Objective The evaluation of services by patients is an integral part of continuous quality improvement in anaesthesia. Patient satisfaction is affected by various objective and subjective variables. Individual experiences, impressions and needs represent an important part of overall patient satisfaction. Methods Data of 519 patients were collected in a standardised anonymous questionnaire independent of the post-anaesthetic visit. Abstract Background The scarf and the combined scarf-Akin procedures are reliable therapeutic tools and can obtain effective correction of symptomatic moderate to severe hallux valgus deformities. Methods The data from 30 patients (37 feet) with moderate to severe hallux valgus deformity who had scarf osteotomies have been retrospectively reviewed. 32 Akin and 77 Weil osteotomies were also carried out at the same stage.
