The Web Participatory Environment: a New Genre in Health Exchange

2014

The Internet has provided new and expanded means of communication, incorporating all forms of discourse and registers, including that of medical discussion. Certain sites, in fact, specialise in healthcare and provide information, offering direct access to counsellors (medical professionals qualified to provide advice) and forums in which the role of participants is that of potential nonspecialists who share opinions, gather information on healthrelated issues and ambiguous medical meanings. The benefits of a healthrelated online forum lie in its ability to quickly and conveniently connect people to both important information and to other people with knowledge regarding a specific health…

Patient satisfaction : results of cluster analysis of finnish patients

2023

Background Healthcare providers must understand patients’ expectations and perceptions of the care they receive to provide high-quality care. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyse different clusters of patient satisfaction with the quality of care at Finnish acute care hospitals. Methods A cross-sectional design was applied. The data were collected in 2017 from three Finnish acute care hospitals with the Revised Humane Caring Scale (RHCS) as a paper questionnaire, including six background questions and six subscales. The k-means clustering method was used to define and analyse clusters in the data. The unit of analysis was a health system encompassing inpatients and outpatien…

Comparative analysis of socioeconomic, behavioral and biological factors between healthy patients and patients with newly diagnosed diabetes in the L…

2020

Introduction. The most effective way to prevent a dramatic increase in the number of diabetic patients lies in early detection of its risk factors and the diagnosis of carbohydrate metabolism disorders. Aim of the study. The study aims at determining socio-economic variables, lifestyle behaviours and biological factors differentiating patients with newly diagnosed diabetes from the diabetes-free individuals according to the American criteria issued by the Commission on Social Determinants of Health as well as FINDRISC form which helps identify patients who are at risk of developing diabetes type 2 on the basis of multi-factorial determinants of its development. Pressure support ventilation + sigh in acute hypoxemic respiratory failure patients: Study protocol for a pilot randomized controlled trial, the PROT…

2018

Background Adding cyclic short sustained inflations (sigh) to assisted ventilation yields optimizes lung recruitment, decreases heterogeneity and reduces inspiratory effort in patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF). These findings suggest that adding sigh to pressure support ventilation (PSV) might decrease the risk of lung injury, shorten weaning and improve clinical outcomes. Thus, we conceived a pilot trial to test the feasibility of adding sigh to PSV (the PROTECTION study). Methods PROTECTION is an international randomized controlled trial that will be conducted in 23 intensive care units (ICUs). Patients with AHRF who have been intubated from 24 h to 7 days and under…

Pacienta un ambulatorās aprūpes māsas sadarbība melanomas riska mazināšanā

2020

Lifestyle and Empowerment Techniques in Survivorship of Gynaecologic Oncology (LETSGO study): A study protocol for a multicentre longitudinal interve…

2021

IntroductionThe number of gynaecological cancer survivors is increasing and there is a need for a more sustainable model of follow-up care. Today’s follow-up model is time-consuming and patients have reported unmet needs regarding information about their cancer and strategies for managing the consequences of treatment. The main aim of this study is to assess health-related empowerment—in terms of patient education, psychosocial support, and promotion of physical activity—in a new follow-up model by comparing it to standard follow-up in a quasi-randomised study involving intervention hospitals and control hospitals. Methods and analysisAt the intervention hospitals, patients will be stratifie…

Adherence to treatment and quality of life of patients with hypertension during the COVID-19 pandemic

2023

Materiał i metody: Zbadano 103 pacjentów SPZOZ MSWiA we Wrocławiu. Zastosowano Skróconą wersję ankiety oceniającej jakość życia (WHOQOL-BREF) oraz Skalę adherence w chorobach przewlekłych (ACDS). 2022

Objective This study aimed to explore risk estimations (perceived risk, dispositional optimism) related to COVID-19 perception and distress in oncologic outpatients undergoing active hospital treatments compared to the general population. Design and Main Outcome Measures Data were collected during the Italian lockdown on 150 oncologic outpatients and a sample of 150 healthy subjects. They completed a battery of questionnaires including the Perceived Risk scale, the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire, the Life Orientation Test- Revised and the Patient Health Questionnaire-4. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and a moderated mediation model were performed to test the study hyp…
